Default Saving Private Ryan or We Were Soldiers

After view both Saving Private Ryan, and We Were Soldiers i needed to know what other people thought of these films, and if it affected them as much as it did me.

We Were Soldiers was a much better film to me, it hit home, and more of a emotional story that needed to be told, and also the overall acting was better IMO, except for Tom Hanks he's a great actor. But that what i think, How about you guys?

SPR is one of my all time favourite movies, I think it's on a different level to We were Soldiers. From the memorable opening sequence on the beach, to the journey these guys take in order to find this one guy, the pain they endure together. There's just so many things that make SPR an amazing piece of art.

IMO the best war movie ever made, bar none.

Too hard to choose. Besides the obvious one has Mel Gibson and Sam Elliott and the other has Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Tom Sizemore etc. Both stories are heart wrenching. I could watc either at any moment.

Yeah they are pretty close, i just think We Were Soldiers touched me more. Mel Gibson's promise was one of a kind.
Maybe i feel i more because im in the military that all.

SPR I gave 5.0 out of 5.0

WWS I gave 4.0 out of 5.0

I always enjoy Mel Gibson AND Tom Hanks so I liked both a lot-- I just
felt that SPR had the more emotional pull throughout the film... plus the
opening scene was more powerful that anything in We Were Soldiers

I guess i like We Were Soldiers more because im in the Military, and to be quite honest We Were Soldiers is an more accurate replica of the Military. Since you guys are civilians its hard for you to relate.

I ask a couple of my co workers the same thing and the only response was SPR's oscars was a joke compared to the authenticity of We Were Soldiers.

But i understand why allot of people liked SPR more, it just suited more for people that dont understand how the military operates.

Look at the Hurt Locker, great movie but there's no way in hell the military would let an EOD spec ops guy defuse bombs like that with a reckless manner, its not real at all. Its just good entertainment.

In real life that dude would of got discharged with the quickness, probably after his second offense.

Saving Private Ryan vs. The Thin Red Line would have been a lot tougher, IMO.
