PQ and AQ of T4 are far superiour to the War of The Worlds one.
Plus, I am Terminator fan.

Terminator Salvation really shocked me, after the let down on Terminator 3 i was iffy about seeing 4.. but i really enjoyed it.. War of the Worlds is a great remake, i wouldnt buy it personally because it doenst have much replay value to me.. so i would have to say both great movies but i would rather own Terminator Salvation... which i already do!

i haven't seen Salvation yet, but it certainly cannot be worse than War of the Worlds... unless you like listening to a screaming Dakota Fanning crying for "mommy!" for 100 minutes and

TS has one of the best AQ and PQ i've seen/heard. but so what? some people just don't enjoy the movie

Wow!

Lots of feedback! Plenty of thanks!

It seems to be a tough choice, as whenever there is one who votes for TS there is another one going for WOTW.

I think I am going to get WOTW once the price has dropped to at least $16,...

I don't have any of the Terminator movies on BD yet, but might get T2 once they bring out an Ultimate Edition, for old times' sake...

I read some reviews on TS and watched a couple of Trailers, but besides looking really good, visual-special effects wise, I don't think this movie would be my cup of coffee.

I can't netflix or anything like that, as I am in Austria.

Again, thanks for the advice.

Get Terminator Salvation for PQ/AQ.

WOTW is awesome for AQ.

Shoot I have both, but if I were you I'd get both!

But for the best bang for the buck. Get Salvation since it's on sale for $14.99.

Buy WOTW when it's on sale.

Okay, you've heard all the opinions and now you are confused, so here's the definitive answer...

If you are a Terminator fan, and who isn't, then you want TS. I have it and its fun, it even has a 'cameo' of Arnold and the action is pretty much non stop. For me, good repeat value. And..great PQ and AQ.

Now WOTW is a different story (duh -- of course it is!). I have mixed feelings about it. I like Tom Cruise, but this was more of a TC movie than what I wanted from WOTW. I wish they had chosen a different actor. Also, it's a very dark (mood wise) movie. It''s not fun and is not supposed to be, so it is one you have to be in the mood to watch. I found it depressing. It is well done but after seeing it twice -- once at the theater and once home, I have little desire to see it again. I don't plan to purchase WOTW.

On the other hand, TS is a good movie to pop into your BR player on a moments notice for some good and fun action. TS is a good blind buy. I'd watch WOTW before buying.

PS I'd get Minority Report (with TC) over WOTW.

If your willing to buy two other BluRay's Walmart still has the 3 for $30.00 with free shipping deal. Got mine there for $10.00.

A good quality disc is great, but I wouldn't recommend a BD based on its audio or visual performance - the film always comes first, so I'd recommend watching before you buy... but WOTW is a far better movie than T4, no matter how reference the audio track might be.

I think if you're a Terminator fan (of the first two films) you would want to avoid Salvation at all costs. McG(imp) couldn't direct traffic!

Get Terminator Salvation. The movie was surprisingly very good. Like others have said, WOTW is stupid with a stupid ending.

I liked WOTW, but am not fond of heavy grain, and it's not really one of my favorites.

I haven't seen TS yet, but could potentially like it.

I used to like T2, love Si-Fi and Fantasy.

Does the movie have a meaningful story or is it just an action spectacle?

Thanks for your help!
Well, gee, let's see, this is a hard one....

The choice between a kick ass Terminator flick or a screaming Dakota Fanning? I'd take the Terminator flick anyday. But then again, you're the one that doesn't like action movies. So..

Like Minority Report and Saving Private Ryan, War of the Worlds is one of Spielberg's catalog titles that is actually worth $20. They have included all of the supplemental features from the two disc DVD making it worth the $20.

I watched Terminator Salvation tonight. Awesome AQ. The movie is very good too.

I rented the movie before I bought it. It wasn't a blind buy; it would have been except the price was too high and I was waiting on the price to fall.

I'd get TS. War of the Worlds is a movie I saw once and I'll never see it again. I don't buy just for AQ; it is a piece of the puzzle. I really don't understand how people can buy things like Transformers just for AQ.
[Show spoiler]I know, Mr Kettle meet Mr. Pot. Terminator Salvation is a fairly mindless action flick too. But Transformers makes it look like The Godfather.

Both Transformers were complete junk, but comparing one of Speilberg's better sci-fi films to them doesn't make much sense.
