If this is the same disc as the UK release, I'll just import. It's only £7.99 on Amazon UK right now...

I don't buy collector's sets, but I'm getting this one without a second thought.

As nice as that collector's set looks, I think I'll just keep my UK release. I have no idea where I would put that thing. lol

I think I'm with you on that one. Unless the US version comes with the disc in a regular case and is about the same price . . . I have no use for the superfluous junk.

Default Goonies 25th Ann. CE Cover Art

The Goonies: 25th Anniversary Collector's Edition on DVD and Blu-ray for release on 11/2 (SRP $39.92 and $49.99). Special features on both versions will include cast commentary with director Richard Donner and all seven actors, The Making of The Goonies documentary, Cyndi Lauper The Goonies 'R Good Enough music video, deleted scenes and the theatrical trailer. So not much new on the disc itself, other than the new HD transfer and 5.1 lossless audio. However, the packaging will include "an exciting new board game, collectible storyboard prints, a 1985 souvenir magazine with captivating behind-the-scenes stories about the actual filming in Astoria, Oregon, including the production design that transformed Astoria into the "Goon Docks," and a reprint of a 2009 article with updates of the entire cast, as well as producer Steven Spielberg and director Richard Donner."

Hopefully someone such as Target gets a version without all the extra knickknacks like the Emerald Edition of The Wizard of Oz.

Well, I don't like that bulky case and the $50 price tag. So I went ahead and ordered the UK version from Amazon UK. I paid $15 shipped which I think it's a damn good deal......

Yup, not paying $50 for a movie I don't even like anywhere near as much as I did as a kid.

i'll pass and just get the regular 25th anniversary blu-ray.

maybe if the was 20page booklet with behind the seens photos or 6inch action figures then id pay 50.

I ordered the UK version yesterday as well. It's hard for me to accept that these UCE's fly off the shelves, but obviously WB is making some nice profit on them.

I've got enough movie storage problems without buying them in giant boxes full of junk. It seems so far that if you wait them out they'll release it in a more resonable version. I'll get it at some point because Goonies never say die.

I can appreciate the people who want these collector's sets, so it's fine that studios release them. But they should also release standalone BDs for those who only want the movie and video-based extras. I will never buy these big boxes, especially with their bloated prices.

+1 Instead we will probably have to wait 6 months to get the standalone version.

+2 This is surely a move similar to "Gone with the Wind." They'll sell more of these collector sets than if there was a concurrent disc-only option. I will either wait for a standard release or jump on the UK version.

I loved Warner's treatment of Batman: The Complete Animated Series on DVD. It came in an elaborate boxset with a nifty over-sized book. However, the discs were stored in standard multi-disc DVD cases and could be placed on a shelf. Disney's Toy Box was another terrific Box set with REAL value. These recent Warner Bros. box sets are a tremendous waste of money and space.

Good to see this 80s classic will hit the scene in the US. I might get it right away/might wait a little.

Watching the film I can't help but think of 1 or 2 things I would've done differently in Mikey's shoes, but hey, it's a fun film, that's what counts.

I gotta say, this film has one of the mightiest legacies for one lacking a sequel.
