Default Trinity vs Paradigm Signature Sub 25

Hello ther ladies n gents. I am trying to figure out which subs to get and add to my 7.2 Definitive Tech setup any opinions or knowledge on the subs would be greatly appreciated . I was looking at getting 2 Def Tech Trinity subs that are rated at 2,000 watts and have 2 14 inch woofers each I can get 2 for $4,900. I already own 2 Supercube References which are 1,800 watts each. I was also looking at the Paradigm Signature Sub 25 which is rated at 7500 watts Dynamic Peak / 3000 watts RMS Sustained. Which sounds much more impressive than the Trinity or SC Reference and I can get 2 for $7,400. The specs on the Signature sound amazing but I am hesitant because I just can't imagine or picture a sub going deeper than my SCREFS. Either way it will be between these 2 subs. I really like the Idea of the Trinity because it will be identical to my SCREFS just with an extra sub but it is only 200 watts more. Any opinions?

I sure hope that your home's wiring is up to snuff. Lol! I looked at some reviews for the Paradigm and its pretty much agreed that its the best in its class. One review directly compared it to the Fathom F113 and the Paradigm took the crown with ease. Looking over the specs all I can say is...MAN! This thing extends down to 9hz!! Apparently you're gonna need to use a dedicated 20amp circuit for this bad boy.

Alpha Sixx,

Instead of spending your money on such expensive subwoofers, I suggest that you build one. If you can build or have someone else build you a cubic box (20" to 24" per side) with three round 11" cutouts, I can show you how to build a subwoofer with one 12" driver and two 12" passive radiators. The price can be below $1,000 and it can easily compete with Trinity.
  • 1 Driver 2 Passive Radiator plus a 500 watt plate amplifier: $420
  • Cabinet: less than $100 to $400, depanding on whether you build it or have someone else do it.
  • Velodyne SMS-1 Equalizer/Analyzer (optional): $400
  • Instead of the 500 plate amplifier, you can buy a 1000 watt plate amplifier or the Behringer EP4000 amplifier (4000 watt peak power) or Behringer EPX3000 (3000 watt peak power). They cost less than $400.

That sounds really great, but the duty station I am currently at is really up tempo and demands a lot of my time I have a lot of guys that I take care of so I am extremely busy and have very little time to run around. Just trying to get packages in the mail is a huge problem with the many hours I am at work, which will change as soon as I get to another duty station hopefully. But I just don't have the time. And I need a place I can take it if there is a problem like my local listen up when I had an issue with one of my sts towers. My next duty station will also have a listen up within driving distance. I will take a look at the Items you have listed here and see what I can do or the guys I work with. And thanks again Big Daddy you are always a big help!

I'd get two of these. I'd get a custom finish on them for sure if you have the budget. They would eat the Trinity's and Paradigm subs alive.

I'm not sure the peak. eD is an ID company only, so you wouldn't be able to get them in stores. They do have free shipping and I'm sure they'd get you a nice discount if you tell them you want two. I built one similar to the A7-900 (in my gallery) but it is tuned to 15hz. It kills. I reached 125dB at 10hz in room before turning it down. It didn't even seem to be breaking a sweat. I cannot imagine two.

That's a little pricy for that sub. It only puts out 1500 watts for $16,000

Don't be fooled by the amp numbers. Amplifier manufacturers use different ways of rating their amps. In most cases, they are exaggerated. I have heard 300 watt subwoofer amplifiers that sound better and more powerful than so-called 1000 watt amplifiers. I have a vintage 300 watt DBX external subwoofer amplifier that I bought in the late 1980's. I prefer it over any pate subwoofer amplifier, 1000 watts or less.

I own two Behringer pro amplifiers. One has a peak power rating of 4000 watts and the other has a peak power rating of 3000 watts. I power the four subwoofers in my room with them. They cost less than $400 each. They are my top choices over any plate amplifier (any wattage) for subwoofer applications.

Money is the least of your problem. How are you going to carry 4 subwoofers at 850 lbs each? You better see a hernia doctor.

$16,000 x 4 = $64,000, less $4000 discount = $60,000

850 lbs x 4 = 3,400 lbs, no discount here

You might as well get new shock absorbers for your car/truck.

In that case, you must buy this subwoofer. It is a little cheaper.

VELODYNE DD 1812 Subwoofer, $10,000 to $15,000:

•Two-way, bi-amplified subwoofer with 18" and 12" drivers
•Twin 1,250 watt RMS/ 3000 watt Dynamic amplifiers
•Drivers feature triple layer Rohacell / carbon fiber cones
•Digital high-gain servo system minimizes distortion
•Dual DSP-digital control for maximum accuracy and impact
•Perfect room-bass interaction with patented DD software
Auto-EQ
- Graphic or Parametric Equalizer controls for room EQ
- Adjustable (15 Hz - 199 Hz) low-pass crossover (defeatable)
- Multiple staggered low-pass crossovers (6dB/octave, initial to 48dB/octave, ultimate)
- Adjustable (15Hz - 35Hz) subsonic filter (defeatable)
- Multiple staggered subsonic filters (12dB/octave, initial to 48dB/octave, ultimate)
- Variable volume control
- Adjustable phase control (0° - 180° in 15° increments)

Digital Drive's crown jewel, the Digital Drive 1812, is the industry's only two-way subwoofer. The 18" and 12" woofers, each driven by a 3,000 watt Dynamic power amp, create a listening experience that must be heard to be believed.

Its dimensions are

Width: 25.5 in.
Depth: 18.5 in.
Height: 40 in.

and it only weighs 385 lbs.

I don't know. I've never heard of the brand. Also, 650lbs for a dual 15" sub at 22 x 20 x 29? I can't imagine anything that size weighing that much, even if it was full of cement. The rest of the specs seem pretty strange as well. On the specs for the impendance rating, the site says it is 8 ohms and rolls down to four. That is definitely not a very convincing sub.
