Default What's on the way for 2008?

Hmm, here in the UK I noticed the Play.com only have a measly 37 blu-ray films scheduled between now and February. So what is coming after that?

Or is this normal and release schedules only go a few months ahead at a time?

Believe me there will be more titles announced for January and February soon. Watch out for CES in January, You will see a ton of new unannounced titles get street dates and some titles that have been postponed will pop up again with a new street date.

There will be a TON of titles coming in 08 if we are to believe what the studios are saying. FOX announced they are going to push for 100 titles this coming year, and you know Sony will be pushing thier titles out, and disney is going to be hitting us with such titles as National Tressure, The lion the witch and the wardrobe, sleeping beauty etc etc etc, and Lionsgate has already announce a group of titles for January, look for a few more from them.

But to answer your question, yes, this is normal.

Good! I guess the next titles I really want is The Matrix and Batman. Will WB ever sort out their blu-ray release schedule!

Thanks!

We'll get Matrix and Batman, but more importantly, stuff like the Alien and Predator films, and possibly Fight Club and other Fox goodies. They did say they plan a 100 titles for '08.

And Fox mentioned they're working on some of the Alien films, etc etc.

Lawrence of Arabia and Bridge on the River Kwai are coming too.

Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if Spielberg decided to publish the entire Indiana Jones series around this time next year. Regardless of Paramount's bribes, these will be out on Blu-ray.

To me the important thing isn't WHEN these titles get released, but the quality of the releases. It's funny to read a lot of the Blu reviews from a year ago and see how underwhelmed everyone was. Casino Royale changed that and now I think the recent Pixar releases have really raised the bar. I understand there are a lot of catalog titles out there that will only ever look so good, but for the marquee stuff like the Alien or Matrix movies, I expect some ass kicking visuals and I'm willing to wait for that. The Rock, Con Air, Crimson Tide, those movies better shake the pillars of HD heaven. I think if the Blu camp continues to focus on the quality of releases above all else, they'll win this stupid war.

reviews for the rock and i think con air have already been out for the UK release and they said the PQ and AQ are amazing. I never worry about Disney and thier releases, they are always top notch.

Hopefully MGM will have finished cleaning up Dances With Wolves, Hannibal and Silence of the Lambs by then too and announce them at CES 2008.
