Whats the Diference between DVD and Blu-ray - Blu-ray Forum

We all know what Dvd is like....But since Blu-ray has more room for data what kind of tricks can we see from Blu-ray....I.E. Vcr's can't jump forward or back to a specific time on disk....What can we expect from BD.

This list is definitely not complete, but just a few things that you can expect. Some of these things should be possible with DVD recorders also.

* Random access, instantly jump to any spot on the disc
* Searching, quickly browse and preview recorded programs in real-time
* Create playlists, change the order of recorded programs and edit recorded video
* Automatically find an empty space to avoid recording over programs
* Simultaneous recording and playback of video (enables Time slip/Chasing playback)
* Downloading of extra materials from the Internet through broadband connection
* Improved picture, ability to record high-definition video (HDTV)
* Improved sound, ability to record surround sound (AC3)
