It's a DreamWorks movie, so hopefully Paramount gives it the release it deserves .

Oh right guess I crossed American Beauty and American President in my mind for some reason. Thanks...still hope it gets an excellent transfer...I adore Mena Suvari and I believe this will be my first blu-ray with her in it.

Very good news! This is one of those titles I have wanted to buy, but I kept telling myself that it would eventually come to Blu-ray. I didn't want to have to kick myself in the butt.

Best picture winner, so probably Sapphire Series.

Hope it won't just be a canadian release ...

Does Paramount owns the rights worldwide for this movie ? If yes, it will be region free, that's why i want to know ^^

Thanks

From what I can tell, Paramount should own it worldwide. Unlike many other DreamWorks films of note (SPR, Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind), they owned American Beauty outright.

And since Universal didn't end up with the print (like Gladiator), the worst anyone can expect is a quickly-acknowledged audio sync error by Technicolor (like SPR). When no one else gets in Paramount's way (Forrest Gump, Braveheart) other than WB's digital-restoration unit MPI (Godfathers I & II, The African Queen), the transfer is always first-rate.

Absolutely; SPR (which many--including myself--believe should have won, and for which Spielberg won Best Director the second time) is the only exception so far.

Thora Birch topless in 1080p? I'll add it to my "buy" list.

Thanks jw, American Beauty is a personal favourite of mine. Too bad Paramount haven't been doing SteelBook versions of their Sapphire Series releases.

I have been waiting for this! Hell, if it's Canadian only I'll still pick it up.

Same here. I'm hoping this'll have new bonus features too (and deleted scenes, which were left off the original DVD at the last minute, if I remember correctly.)

The worst? Paramount dropped the ball on other titles, like the Star Trek movies, or It's A Wonderful Life. Sure, they're not as bad as Universal, but I wouldn't call them first-rate.

EXCELLENT news! Been waiting forever for this one! It's an all-time favourite!

Now all we need is Schindler's List and Pulp Fiction!

Yeah, it would be nice if someone could talk Mendes into allowing those to be included. Apparently he thinks they'd ruin the actual film if anyone were to ever see them.

I always found it odd that her character was saving up for a boob job (she obviously doesn't need one) or that someone so regressed would join a cheerleading squad.

Nevertheless... I love this movie - a day 1 purchase for me and long overdue!

How are those things odd? The entire point of the movie is that things aren't as perfect as they seem and for her character, fitting in is key since this is suburbia.

It's odd because she's already got a huge rack and doesn't want to fit in otherwise.
