I'm looking for a new LED LCD or LCD tv, around 46-55", and at most around $1500. I've done some looking and so far I've come accross:
Sony XBR: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-BRAVIA-KD...d=45E9FPL30G8X Sharp Aquos: http://www.amazon.com/Sharp-AQUOS-LC...d=45E9FPL30G8X Toshiba: http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-46UX60...d=45E9FPL30G8X LG: http://www.amazon.com/LG-55LH90-55-I...d=45E9FPL30G8X Sammy: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LN46C6...d=45E9FPL30G8X Thanks for any help you can give me, I already have a 42" panny plasma, so this whole LCD world is kinda a new thing for me and I feel lost lol. |

I picked up the LG model you have listed at B.B. for $1999.99 3-4months ago. If you can pick it up w/guarantee I can recommend this model. I upgraded from a Samsung 46" and have been very pleased. Have not had one negative issue w/tv. I use this tv for my blu-ray watching along w/my ps3 gaming. I have not had it calibrated yet so I'm sure it can look a little better down the line as well. I have NOT used the THX settings and read a couple of reviews on the this tv that this was not a strong point on this model. I am very pleased w/this model so far. Hope this helps a little.

Of course, the first line of the above linked review tells the whole story -
"With every new technology release, LCD tries to catch up to plasma in the picture quality race, but never seems to succeed." And the kicker is - PLASMAS COST LESS THAN LCDs ! ![]() |

Get the sony XBR9. This was listed for $2500 a year ago. Now Amazon has it for as low as $1100.
For the one above me...the reason why people buy LCD because.... It gives you a whiter white and lighter as well. Ive seen Plasma and looks good but white is more like off white for white and super heavy. Plasma gives you great black but LCD is just as close and most can live with that. Not to mention is not as thin as LCD/LED. Who wants a TV that sticks out 6-8 off the wall? ![]() |

The ultimate question that people need to ask themselves when trying to decide between LCD and Plasma is this:
"Will there ever be any light in the room while watching content?" If the answer is yes, than LCD has a much higher fidelity image quality when other light sources are present. If the answer is no and the buyer knows that everytime the TV is on they can have complete and utter darkness, than Plasma is the best choice. |

Best Buy.com has the Samsung LN55C630 on sale for $1499.99. Pretty much the same as the Samsung LN46C650 you have listed but without the Samsung Apps feature and the Contrast Ration is 120,000:1 instead of 150,000:1. You would get 9" more of screen though.

I have the LG 55LH90 and just about everyone swears by them. Most bang for your buck. Just check AVS Forums for the best TV settings to get the most out of that set. It took some tweaking, but mine is looking pretty damn sharp these days.
