Default Spike Lee on Blu-ray

While I'm happy to have an excellent edition of DO THE RIGHT THING on Blu-ray, I feel Lee needs to be more represented on hi-def.

Yes, THE INSIDER and MIRACLE AT ST. ANNA are on Blu but where is...

MALCOLM X
25TH HOUR
CLOCKERS
SUMMER OF SAM
HE GOT GAME
CROOKLYN
JUNGLE FEVER

and I feel like Criterion intended to release SHE'S GOTTA HAVE IT but that fell through somehow?

Anyone hear any news on more of his films hitting shelves?

I've heard nothing one way or another (I'm aching for MALCOLM X) but you're best bet is around February, Black History month, with which most studios save their African-American-themed titles to coincide.

Eh, I'm not a streaming, nor a rental, kind of guy. Thanks for the tip, but I'll just suffer through until the BD gets released.

All I know is that Miracle at St. Anna has got to be the worst WWII set film I have ever seen.

Summer of Sam would be one beautiful looking disc, and would right the wrongs of the non-anamorphic releases it has seen on dvd (including one that said 'enhanced for 16x9 TVs' but still was a letterboxed 4x3 transfer).

Nice post, glad to see other Spike fans wondering where the BD's are also.
I really hope these get released:
MALCOLM X
25TH HOUR
CLOCKERS
SUMMER OF SAM

Ditto. This guy is incredibly overrated.—a mediocre director at best. Spike's been riding on the coattails of "Do the Right Thing" for years. The size of his ego matches only the size of his mouth—which he should learn to keep shut. Nearly every utterance from this guy proves he is a certified whack job and racist.

Spike Lee hasn't made a good movie to date. He's about as talented as Tyler Perry. FYI Tyler Perry's awful! It was a m iracle I sat through Miracle @St.Anna as long as I did. That was the real miracle.

I've never heard of "Tyler Perry's Awful". When is it coming out?

I've probably seen well over 100 WWII set films and this one is definitely the worst.

+1. I sorta feel embarrassed for owning Inside Man on blu.

I thought it was worth a rental, but nothing more than that. Clive Owen and Denzel Washington I have done so much better work than Inside Man IMHO.

I'm in agreement on St. Anna. Not a good film. With that said, I think "Do The Right Thing," "Clockers," "25th Hour," "Summer of Sam," and "Malcolm X" are excellent films and worthy of release on Blu-ray.

I don't see this at all. The guy has not been riding the coattails of Do The Right Thing. He has made some very good films since then like 25th Hour, Inside Man, Malcolm X among others. Do The Right Thing stands over everything he does because it is such a great piece of work but that doesn't diminish what he has done since then. He has done very good work. Sounds like you need to let the personal stuff go and evaluate his work.
