Default Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)

_____
Silent Night, Deadly Night

Title: Silent Night, Deadly Night
Release year: 1984
Genre(s): Horror, Slasher, Thriller

Would anyone else like to see this get on released on Blu-ray?
_____

I loved the film, haven't seen it for awhile, apparently it's rare to find a DVD/VHS copy nowadays... Wouldn't mind seeing a Blu-ray release of it, and then after that - Maybe they could release its four sequels eventually (Deadly Night Part 2, Silent Night, Deadly Night 3: Better Watch Out!, Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation, and Silent Night, Deadly Night 5: The Toy Maker.)

Thanks for viewing.

I've stated that I'd be hard pressed not to buy a horror flick cause I'm a huge horror movie fan. This would be one of the very few titles I'd stay away from. It lft a bad taste in my mouth when I first saw it. Don't know what it is about it that repels me. Yuck!

There's a remake coming, so it's possible.

I'd be content if they'd just release the first movie on blu. As much as I normally dislike remakes, if that is what it takes to get the original released, so be it.

There's a BD for the upcoming theatrical screenings. Perhaps it will release in 2014?

NEW YORK, Nov. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Screenvision, a national cinema advertising leader, has teamed up with Brainstorm Media to give horror fans one last shriek this holiday season with showings of the FANGORIA Presents screening of the 80's classic, Silent Night, Deadly Night. This uniquely chilling film, which has achieved cult status among horror fans, will be coming to theaters across the nation from December 4th – December 18th.

"We're excited to be teaming up with Brainstorm Media to bring such a cult favorite to horror fans in theaters nationwide," saysDarryl Schaffer, Screenvision's Executive Vice President, Operations & Exhibitor Relations.

"We enjoy working with Screenvision. They've already locked in over 200 screens for this film and are working closely with us and the magazine to get the word out. Silent Night has never been seen in HD until now -- and there's no better place to see it than in a theater," says Meyer Shwarzstein, Founder of Brainstorm Media.

Charles E. Sallier Jr.'s 1984 holiday cult horror classic tells the tale of Billy Chapmen, orphaned at five after witnessing the murder of his parents at the hands of a Santa suit-clad madman on Christmas Eve. Now eighteen and out of the brutal grip of orphanage nuns, Billy is forced to confront his greatest fear, sending him on a rampage, leaving a crimson trail in the snow behind him. This Fangoria Presents event, in conjunction with Screenvision, delivers this seasonal slasher essential in a stunning new HD transfer for the ultimate experience in ho-ho-horror!

"I'm bursting with blood-splattered bliss at the idea of fans being able to see this classic Christmas slasher on the big screen after all these years. This is the original 'bad santa' shocker and whether seeing it for the first time or the fifteenth time, SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT is an absolute blast to behold. No serious horror movie lover should miss the chance to experience this collectively, in a packed theatre," says Chris Alexander, editor-in-chief of FANGORIA magazine.

I was wondering about a blu-ray since the movie is being re-released in theatres in HD. Thanks for the picture! I hope that means good news for a release soon. I'm definitely gonna be seeing this on the big screen next month.

Saw this in the theater the other night and I gotta say.....for a "remastered" "blu-ray" quality release....it looked just like the DVD. Audio was clearly not surround sound and the picture was rather dull.

Either way I would love this on blu-ray

I saw it on Friday on the big screen and was underwhelmed by the picture and audio as well. Definitely not much better than the DVD. It was also the R-rated cut. With that being said, I would also love to add it to my Blu Ray collection regardless.

Yup I figured it would be the R-rated version, which I had never seen since I have the uncut on DVD. And wow am I happy I've always had the uncut cause the R rated is just plain weak in comparison.

I've been waiting for a 1080p HD Blu-ray of Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) for a few years now. I've got both Anchor Bay DVDs (the double feature from 2003 and the individual release from 2007 or so) but a Blu-ray release would be most welcome. Shame that the director died three years ago.

I printed a custom cover for my double feature DVD by using a cool image/poster that I found online.
