Default Care for LCD screens?

I have been using a LCD/plasma screen cleaning kit
that is leaving some streaking, maybe the product may have
been my over use of the spray.

Bought a different product rocketfish cleaner, have not used
it yet.

My question before I use anything is what's the "best-safest" way
to clean LCD tv screens?
And has anyone used rocketfish if so a quick question, do
you apply the spray on the cloth provided or direct to screen?

Thanks

I would never spray anything onto the screen. I have a Samsung LCD, and the only way I clean the screen part is with a damp towel that was provided with the TV. Just damp with water is all. No spray goes near my electronics.

First thing that is vary important with using a cleaner is to only do it when the display has been off for hours & is completely cooled off . That will help stop the streaking .

If you never touch the display , then you should only have to clean it once or twice a year . Then dusting is the only thing you would need to do every week or so .

I use a Monster screen cleaner .

A good duster ~

I took this less than a month ago . Have had my display over 2 years & have cleaned it maybe 3 times & dust it every week !

I have read that many times however the product I was using came
with directions that want you to spray the screen then use
the cloth (that is shaped in a handle fashion) to wipe the screen.

Regarding damping the cloth do you use distiller water?

Thanks

How would you clean a computer screen then?

like they said, make sure the screen is cool. dont over spray the screen and do circular motions. The rocketfish stuff is identical to the Monster stuff we sell.

DO NOT spary directly onto the screen. I have seen pictures where the cleaning solution has crept between the screen & the bezel and believe me, the sets were completely trashed. If I can find the pics, I'll post them.

Default LCD screens?

I have some scratches (self-inflicted) on my new Sony LCD TV screen. Is there any way to get them off/taken care of?

I have the Samsung ln52a650 which I find to be a pain to clean. My old panasonic plasma was so much easier. Never left any streaks. For some reason the monster one streaked for me, unless I was very meticulous.

What I do make sure it's been off for a while, dust first, and then clean. I use a product called "OptiMist Prime Screen Cleaner". http://www.shaggymac.com/index.php?m...roducts_id=181

LCD screens are not like ordinary monitor screens. LCD screens are NOT GLASS, rather they are made up of a soft film that can easily be damaged by harsh paper towels and the chloride and other chemicals in ordinary tap water. These screens are very delicate, they must be handled with care and very, very gently.

Avoid using paper towels, toilet paper, tissue paper, or something like your shirt to wipe the LCD screen. These non-ultrasoft materials can easily scratch the screen. Avoid cleaning products that contain ammonia, ethyl alcohol, acetone, toluene, ethyl acid, or methyl chloride. These chemicals can react with the materials that the LCD screen is made of which could yellow the screen or cause other kinds of damage. Never spray liquid directly on the LCD screen or it could run inside the monitor and cause damage.

Easier said than done. Our TV is wall mounted and now that my 6 year old son is taller he resorts to touching the screen when he wants to show something. I have been trying to drill into his head point don't touch for our Samsung and my laptop. But the noodlehead forgets. Luckily their iMac has a nice hard screen that keeps the LCD on that safe. You should see the grease prints on that after a couple of uses by both my kids. UGH!

I agree with all of you that these do work the best, but i will recommend that you watch which type you buy some of these have are scented and will leave behind residue if you use it on your screen. I learned that one the hard way I bought the orange scented type by mistake.

cleaning the same way as any other LCD. There are many ways you can do with water or vinegar. Some people with Monitor Wipes available in the trade, etc. The shops are full of such products.

Damp paper towel followed by dry paper towel for drying. I've always used this combo for my PC monitors and I'll continue for the G's LCD. Theres really no reason to use any special product in my experience.
