Default I have Kidney Stones, amongst other things. Not a good day :(

Woke up this morning, from a pain in my side that I really cant describe.. It took my breath away, Made me throw up, and nearly pass out.. I got to the ER , and was very flushed and felt like someone hit me in the guts with a sledgehammer .. After testing and ultrasounds I have 6 stones inside passing now, and I already peed out 2 .. Anyone ever have this? And if so are the random shots of pain , just that? Random? I am on 7.5 mg percocets right now and they seem to take the edge off, But I know when they pass and the pain comes again, Im gonna have to just through it .. . which sucks

Probably one of the worst feelings/pains I have ever had, and almost scary because it basically just shut down my whole body.. All that plus diagnosed with Hyper tension ( BP @ 167/110 ) and an inflamed appendix .. Not a great day , so just wanted to see if anyone else has gone through this

I had to have two surgeries last year on a stone that got stuck in my ureter. I had the same thing as you, nausea, vomiting, etc. Sat in the ER for 3 hours like that while they dicked around with who knows what. I was on two percocets every four hours for awhile . . . it's amazing how well you can function on them when you take that much The bad thing is, to pass them you have to drink lots and lots of water, but the pain is caused by the pressure from the same liquid getting backed up by a stone blocking the pathway.

Hopefully you won't have to have surgery. It blows hard. I still have pain almost every day due to the scar tissue that accumulated at the site of the stone.

I hear ya on that one brother.. I have drank 3 gallons of water today and just peed for the first time other than at the ER.. It was scary at first because I didnt know what it was.. Sharp and Full pains along your front, side, and even up the back.. Now I gotta pee in a strainer for 3-4 weeks to see if I catch anything.. Its almost like fishing , In a sick nasty sorta way

I'm really sorry about your condition. Haven't been through anything like that but i have seen my share of such cases this past few weeks at work. I sincerely hope you feel better.

Did you feel like you got kicked in the nuts? I guess some people get that and some people don't. That, unfortunately, is usually what I start to notice first when I have one.

I've had two bouts with Kidney Stones. First, i was a sophmore in college and had to hobble over to the student aid area, they had no clue. Actually, ended up passing them about without too much trouble. Key to that one was to get really REALLY drunk. Worked like a charm but i wouldn't recommend.

The 2nd bout was awful. I was in my senior year of college. The pain hit me while i was at work at 3 a.m.and since i had them before i just though "Uh-Oh!" Drove myself to the hospital and had to pull over to vomit. They pumped me up with morphine which screwed me up pretty good but didn't help me pass them. So after two days of just pain i went home for the weekend and everything seemed fine for 2 days. I went back to school on monday and halfway through my first class i just get blasted with pain. Ended up going to the clinic again and getting some shots of something really strong that worked REALLY WELL and severe cottonmouth. Ended up going to the clinic about 3 times in a week and had a 3 day stay in the hospital as they put in a Stent(sp) to try to help me pass the stones. They were only giving me Vicadon for pills unfortunately they didn't help much.

I would have to say that its one of the most debilitating things a person can go through. It feels like you really need to crack your back but you can't. And then sometimes it feels like you are getting stabbed in the side. I really feel for ya man. Just remember that just because you all of sudden feel better doesn't mean that its over. I learned that lesson hard.

1 is too much, could not believe the pain.

I hope you feel better soon. It's very random and you can't ever be sure if you will have others or not. Watch what you eat, drink a lot and follow the doctor's recommendation. Had one and I hope I never have to get that again, I can't even start to imagine what you must feel like with 6 of them

That sucks. I guess you need to drink more water, although for that many stones I would see a Urologist. I worked with someone who had chronic kidney stones and they ended up having over active parathyroid glands, which causes kidney stones. Good Luck with everything!

Are you saying my life of sloth and gluttony actually has an advantage?

Seriously though sorry to hear about the kidney stones. My dad went through a bout a few years ago. Wouldn't wish that on anybody.

Depending on the type of stone you had (the most common are calcium oxalate), an overall healthy lifestyle doesn't (obviously) make you immune. I know spinach and tea are probably the two worst things for you if you're a stone former. Which sucks, cuz I love sweet tea But . . . if you drink enough water to counteract the formation of the stones from the increased oxalate concentration, you should be ok. SHOULD be.
