Default Where are the Blu-ray supporters!!!

I have been reading with interest over the past year the format war occurring between Blu-ray and HD DVD. I do not own a player yet but will buy one in 2007. Initially I was supporting HD DVD but now strongly believe that Blu-ray will dominate and the recent movie announcements have confirmed this.

I have posted a few times on highdefdigest and avsforum but have a couple of times gotten my head bitten off by HD DVD fans.

Where are the Blu-ray fans? If I was to believe everything on those forums I would believe that Blu-ray is completely unreliable, the PS3 is a dud, Blu-ray has poor picture quality, HD DVD movies greatly outsell Blu-ray (actually both are selling poorly compared to DVD) and HD DVD has this war in the bag.

Look at the HD DVD players. Both initial Toshiba machines left a lot to be desired. The HD DVD add on for the x-box 360 and the Toshiba A1 or A2 is hardware crippled to keep the price down, that is why they are cheaper than the Blu-ray players that are not crippled. The Toshiba does not do 1080p and the x-box add-on does not have HDMI. All I keep hearing though is HD DVD is so much cheaper than Blu-ray. Well lets compare apples with apples. The price of the Toshiba XA2 and the Samsung Blu-ray player. The price of the x-box 360 + HD DVD add-on and the PS3. Not a lot of price difference.

As an objective viewer I can see Blu-ray having a very strong 2007. I think a lot of people who purchased HD DVD players realise this and are very bitter. I am sick of the Blu-ray is dead, PS3 is a dud, look at the poor Blu-ray sales, Blu-ray is more expensive, Blu-ray has poor picture quality, no-one needs 50GB threads that are dominating the forums lately.

good job being able to see through all the FUD. many forum members have moved away from avs and the like because of the clear bias over there towards particular formats. many of us here feel the same as you. don't worry about it, welcome, and post as you feel necessary.

There are two ways of looking at this, wishful thinking of facts. The facts are Overwhelming studio support for Blu Ray. Over whelming Consumer Electronic Manufacturer's. Considerably more storage capacity. All that is going for HD-DVD is well - if you say something often enough it will come true. Alas that only works in fairy tales, but if there is nothing else, well worth trying.

There is passion here - watch this... no I have no intention starting a riot here. On this forum the Admins and supported by their "deputies" are determined that there will be no personal attacks against ANYONE, no spam and trolls and fud'sters are given a more than generous run. If someone wants to post something positive about HD-DVD that's relevant they could without fear, just make sure it's factual.

Welcome and you won't get your head bitten off here (unless there are any hungry Silence of the Lambs fans here).

This site is our haven

AVS is our battle site

During the dark age (June-Oct) many blu-ray supporters were forced to retreat to this site to avoid persecution from HD-DVD fanatics. And we have no ammo to fight them with.

But since the PS3 and the onslaught of BR studio announcement, WE ARE FIGHTING BACK!! We will not be overrun anymore. Enough of the bull**** they're spreading around. This time I want to battle them head to head , though as of now my AVS account is on a 2-days ban ...surprise, surprise

2007 will be our glorious time, no question about it

'Tis truly sad, but there is nothing they can do to stop the future of Blu-ray; it is....inevitable.
