Default When will Red Shoes come to Amazon UK?

Anyone know when the HMV exclusivity ends? Shipping from HMV to the US is too expensive, and none of the third-party sellers on Amazon ship to the US.

Keep trying eBay. A Charity Seller had a load of them for £8 each. That's where my disc came from.

the HMV exclusivity ended on "The Red Shoes" some time ago.
It should be on amazon.UK now
I know I made note that it was on amazon.uk some time ago.
EDIT: ok they must be out of stock because it is only available from a seller.
It is certainly possible that the need to press some more copies.
who knows.
this is a good example of why I try to get these classic films as soon as I can.
bd is getting more popular, and stuff like this is selling out now.

I do love a blind buy. Especially at that price. Is this a good choice?

Just read the review on this site and cannot wait to pic it up; the PQ looks AMAZING! And perfect timing, with Barnes & Noble doing their 50% off Criterion titles then. YES!!!

I saw this film on netflix a couple of months ago, and was pretty disappointed after hearing about how good it was. But in hindsight, I dunno, it just seems like maybe it's better than I thought it was. And I love love love the central ballet sequence, that was amazing. It just felt like the ending was a bit melodramatic, and I found it hard to identify with the characters in the second half, it just seemed really unbelievable... but I guess that might be the point.

Anyway I'm glad the Criterion one is just as good as the already-released ITV one.... I think I may end up getting the CC one though, as I have a multi-region player, and the cover is better, and it might be one film in which I care about the fact it has loads more extras.

Hmmm, thought I'd posted this.

Cover:

Lovely transfer.

Incidentally, if you want this get it now as it's been removed from several sites. It's also showing as "3-5 weeks" for stock which is also worrying.

So we have a simple upgrade with the new thing being 1080p.

I always liked the UK release colouring more and it'll be interesting to see a comparison when it's done.

I am unsure what the above statement is meant to convey. The upgrade is anything but "simple" as both Blu-ray releases, U.S. and UK, are sourced from the same 2009 4K restoration:

U.S. release:
The Red Shoes Blu-ray Review

UK release:
The Red Shoes Blu-ray Review

Additionally, there are most definitely no major discrepancies as far as the color-scheme is concerned (see identical captures). The audio treatment is different, as are the supplemental features provided with each release.

Both the UK ITV one and the US CC one are in 1080p. From the review it sounds like the transfers are virtually identical, meaning the only real differences are in region coding, packaging, and special features. (in the last respect, the US one definitely wins out)

"Simple" as in nothing new, complicated, uncomplex ie the same. But with added (or restored if you like) 1080p. This is a forum about Blu-ray releasing of product and this is a "simple" release. Nothing new from the DVDs.

They're reusing old -literally- elements and the only thing new is the cardboard and printed matter.

Simple.

But the US release does not have 'added/restored' 1080p as compared to the previous UK release. Both of the UK and US releases of The Red Shoes are in 1080p. They are sourced from the same restoration, and the transfers are virtually identical. But the US release is region A locked, the UK release region B locked, and the US release contains more special features. That's where the differences between the releases lie.

Yes? You seem to be talking to yourself there because that makes no sense (maybe nonsense) to me.

The transfers we have on Blu-ray are the transfers from ages ago -just rescaled [from the original digitised elements] for 1080p. Those same transfers have been around for ages.

Nothing new on the Blu-ray. Apart from the format itself featuring these films of course. That's what I mean as 'simple' re-releases.
