I'm trying to play blu ray disks using Sony Optiarc BC-5500S USB BD ROM and Power DVD 9 Ultra Edition on my Acer 1810TZ which has Intel GMA 4500M chipset. OS is Windows 7.
I get the error message 'your disc drive does not support the playback for this content' when trying to play any Blu Ray discs. The Cyberlink BD Advisor says the graphics card is capable of playback but the driver is not, despite the fact that it is the latest driver. Any ideas? |

Hooked up my Optiarc BD ROM BC5500S4 on a Dell Inspiron1420, NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS graphics card.
Cyberlink Blue-ray Disc Advisor gives me the green light, however I get the same error "Your disc drive does not support the playback for this content" What does this mean ? ![]() |

Both graphics chipsets are very much capable of playing blu-ray. Check for updated drivers on Intel's and AMD's websites. In addition, Cyberlink is an iffy with many people. It either flat out works or doesn't at all. I have to say that many people are moving away from Cyberlink and going with Arcsoft TMT 3 Platinum Eddition. I use both PowerDVD 7.3 with some patches and Arcsoft. The better one is Arcsoft in my honest opinion. In fact, some people still feel that the Powerd DVD 7.0 series that came packaged with the retail LG Blu-Ray/HD-DVD drives is still the best in the Cyberlink PowerDVD series. Remember, to everyone in these computer forums. Once a week check for updated drivers on all of your hardware on yor computer. If this doesn't work, then you two might have faulty drives and have to contact the manufacturers for an RMA if still under warranty. Good luck you two. I would like to know what happens. In fact, let us know what happens. We would really like to know the outcome. Peace....

I would also advise moving form Cyberlink. They seem have a habit of breaking working software with one patch, fixing it in the next, only to break it yet again with the following patch. I moved on to TMT3 after having my fill of this and it's been smooth sailing since.

I'm having the same issue with this damn BC-5500S4 drive, I already tried FOUR programs:
PowerDVD Ultra 10 Arcsoft Totalmedia Theater 3 WinDVD BD Edition Nero 9 Reloaded None of them will let me play three brand new original blu-rays I got at Amazon.com, all of them give me similar messages saying my drive is unable to play contents of the disk, but whenever I enable AnyDVDHD, all of them work fine, feels like the drive is somehow locked to some taiwan region or something, I got it on e-Bay from some Hong Kong seller, could that be the problem? I thought BD Drives are region-free and its region is set on the software... There is a new firmware for it at Sony website, but it won't let me upgrade because I do not own a Sony laptop (I use the drive on my Macbook) Can someone help me? Thanks! |

Try this!!! My Samsung would not play my Blu-ray movies so I deleted the software for it ( Power/DVD 8 ) then reinstalled the software and it worked perfect.DON'T forget to make sure you can do this without losing your software to run your movies

Question:I want to burn my blu ray content (1080p)to a disc (dual layer) to play on a normal dvd player, but have received conflicting advice. Some people can tell me how to compress and backup my Blu-Ray to Dual Layer DVD Disc (DVD9)?
What’s DVD DL? Dual Layer DVD Disc is named DVD DL (DL stands for Double Layer), also called DVD 9. DVD 9 recording allows DVD-R and DVD+R discs to store significantly more data, up to 8.5 gigabytes per side, per disc, compared with 4.7 gigabytes for single-layer discs. DVD-R DL was developed for the DVD Forum by Pioneer Corporation, DVD+R DL was developed for the DVD+RW Alliance by Philips and Mitsubishi Kagaku Media (MKM). How to compress and backup Blu-Ray movie to fit on Dual Layer DVD Disc (DVD9)? If you want to burning or copying a Blu-ray movie to fit on your DVD DL, it requires a few prerequisites. You’ll need a Blu-ray burner, DVD-R DL or DVD+R DL disc, BDRebuilder, IMGBurn software and some content (Blu-ray movies) to burn. In this article, we’ll tell that how to burn files extracted from a BD-ROM movie disc to DVD9. First we know that BD Rebuilder is not a decrypter. So to extract (rip) files from a BD-ROM movie disc, I recommend Moyea Blu-Ray Ripper. oyea Blu-Ray Ripperis a great and powerful Blu-ray tool, which can not only decrypt any Blu-Ray movie with BD+, copyright, AACS, region code protection, let you directly backup and convert Blu-ray to PC, hard drive, media players with ease, and also let you select desired subtitle and audio language (English, French, etc), and from April 9, 2010, it can show all chapters of a Blu-Ray movie, let you make perfect 1:1 copies, 100% same to the original with absolutely no quality loss! [BD Rebuilder can let you shrink and make a complete/full backup of your Blu-ray movies to DVD-5(4.37GB), DVD-9(7.95GB) or to single layer Blu-ray Disc(23GB). ImgBurn software can write most types of CD/DVD/Blu-ray/BD images and it supports all the latest writers (including booktype / bitsetting on many of the major ones - i.e. BenQ, LiteOn, NEC, Plextor, Sony). Create ISO's from files on your hard disk, or burning them direct to a disc. You can even use ImgBurn to erase / format your rewritable media! Guide: Step 1: Download, install and launch Moyea Blu-Ray Ripper, load your Blu-ray movie to the program (You can only check the main movie part for backup to save space.), under Subtitile and Audio down list, you can set what audio and subtitle tracks you want to keep, then select "Directly copy" from "Output" to backup your Blu-ray movie to PC. After April 9, you will get a button as "Full Disk Copy" in the main interface for expediently backup the whole Blu-ray movie with chapters to PC or hard drive with ease,. Then click “Convert” to start running. After conversion, please go on step 2. Step 2: Launch BD Rebuilder. Choose the folder with the decrypted Blu-ray files. Then under Settings->Options choose the output file size DVD-9(7.95GB). And then compress and backup blu-ray movie to DVD 9. Step 3: Burn using Imgburn, now you can add the folder that BD Rebuilder made, select Write files/folders to disc, burn the files to a DVD+R DL or DVD-R DL, and Imgburn will adjust the movie settings correctly. After burn the DVD9 to a DVD Dual Layered DVD+R DL or DVD-R DL. You can enjoy now. And such DVD9 is superbe quality in HD like not far from the blu-ray orignal. |

I took delivery of a nice hi-spec Asus N71 which came preloaded with windvd9 oem version. It was supposed to play blu ray; but didn't. The problem is that windvd9 does not support the 64-bit version of windows u, only the 32 bit version. I called laptops direct who called their Asus rep and the upshot is that they're upgrading all their oem installs to windvd 10, which does work with 32-bit. I think the Asus website is planning to offer a free download link to upgrade existing laptops.
Well done to Lee at laptops direct, well done to Asus for admitting they made a mistake and doing something about it, and 10 points to consumers everywhere! |
