DVD players are pretty cheap - I would get one now.

It could be 5-6 years before Blu-ray costs as little as what a DVD player costs now - maybe longer.

My first DVD player in around 1996 cost US$999. Blu-ray recorder costs around US$4000 in Japan right now.

Cheers!
DAve.

I would go for it too, DVD players arn't costly. If you are worried about having to remake your collection to HD, there may be an issue with some products, but many productions won't see an improvement when moved to HD (you know, garbage in, garbage out).

As phloyd said, it will be quite a while before this whole HD media thing will be affordable, let alone worth while. The wait would probably hurt more than the upgrade so go ahead and enjoy some DVDs.
