I got it a week early. I have yet to see it actually in the stores. Best Buy had it on sale for $19.99.

Yeah, I got mine of Amazon. Went to one Best Buy and saw the 19.99 sign which I wished I had known about, but there were no more copies on the shelf.

recieved mine from amazon, and I was amazed at the picture quality compared to the dvd version, it definitly is an improvement, but if you have never seen the original and are not a fan of these then they may not think so.

I 2nd that. It's no reference disk but this is as good as it has ever looked. They went back to the original 30 mm film for this transfer and we have to remember that while this cartoon came out in the U.S. in the 90s with english audio, the animation was made in the 80s in Japan.

35mm, and the movies came out in '92 and '93 in Japan. It may look better than the R1 DVD, but the R2 has it beat for the most part I hear.

That is disappointing. Why does the DVD (region 2 supposedly) look better than the Blu-ray?

Because they used a better master to begin with, and they also didn't apply destructive DVNR (digital video noise reduction) to it. The BD from Funimation will most likely be the best that an English language version will be, but no way am I going to applaud their efforts. It's very worrying for me when you think about their other titles, and that they may use the same process for those.

Do a google search for "DVNR animation" and you should get plenty of articles that explain the problem along with example images.
