Default Long Story Short, My Stuff Was Stolen By A Family Member.

Ok, I'm not going to go into specifics, but my stuff was stolen and I know who it was, a family member. I mean; Blu-rays, DVDs, Dead HDTV (LOL), German SD TV, 2 Blu-ray Players; GONE. I had my laptop, external, and my HD Camera and clothes while I was moving into my apartment. Has anyone been through something like this?

I should just erase my damn Blu-ray collection thing on here. I'm frustrated.

EDIT: Being the big nerd that I am. I have photos of physical copies of all of the Blu-rays except for Ponyo. I have photos of ALL of the Godzilla DVDs, DVDs purchased from Thailand, and some misc. stuff. I have no insurance on these things. So, I guess I am screwed.

Check with HAMP, he's been through this situation several times. Sorry to hear man, hopefully you can get everything back.

Yeah, I'm thankful to still have my laptop, external, and my HD Camera. Especially the HD camera for my film making stuff.

There's obviously more to this. Who is the family member and how do you know who it was? If you know who did it, then you have a place to start looking. I don't see how you are screwed if you know who took it.

Check PM, I'm not stating who or why they took my stuff on here.

Exactly - did they just disappear or something? If you know who they are, what's stopping you? I'm finding this whole scenario a little unusual.

Said family member took stuff as I was moving out and claimed if I stepped foot on their property, they are calling the police on me for trespassing.

You call the police first and see what they can do for you.

I sent you a PM reply. If it is your stuff, you also have the right to file a police report for theft. You obviously have proof of ownership with pictures and the list on this sight. If they entered your property, you also have the right to sign additional charges. Like I said in PM, try to talk rationally with family members before it has to get this far. Good luck!

I agree - if they are willing to stoop that low and go there, so should you.

I think since they stole players you should call the police. It's a lot easier to prove they are yours than just movies. If you have receipts, or bought them online where you can get proof of the purchase (amazon, bestbuy...) you can show the cops that you rightfully own this stuff. Worst case scenario the police go over there and look around. That would make it nearly impossible to sell the stuff.

Talk to the rest of your family about this situation. Don't want anyone else getting shafted by this "person".

Also, if the police do want to arrest this "person" do not obstruct that with sentiment. Let them learn.

Sidenote: If they are willing to stoop that low and get past the police investigation (if there is one), you could always be patient and "liberate" your stuff when the chance arises. It's not stealing if it's your stuff.

EDIT: Looking through your collection, it shouldn't be too difficult to prove that the Pulp Fiction steelbook is yours seeing as it can't be purchased in America. If you have a receipt or online form proving that is yours you have them nailed when they tell the cops they "bought" all that stuff.

I bought the Pulp Fiction Blu-ray on here in the trading forum. It was just the disc. The seller I bought it off of got a Region All copy and swapped the discs and sold me the Blu-ray in an empty case. I have it in my feedback.

Most of the stuff, the receipts are gone. And this whole thing about jacking my stuff was to spite me for my actions in life. A part of me just says "F**K IT" and to just start all over. But, my childhood possessions, Godzilla stuff, is what made me want to be a filmmaker. That is what kills me the most.

I was planning on buying my fiancée a PS3 as a wedding gift, so as a Blu-ray player, it's mostly covered except for the three Region B titles that I own.

You may just want to say forget it, but I am a firm believer in people being punished for things they do that are wrong. If you do not report them what is there to stop them from taking your stuff again. You have to take action if only to make a point.

If you're not willing to discuss specifics why bother wasting time posting this thread? Seriously, is it an attention thing?

That said, I am sorry you're going through what you're going through.

I agree with this.

How are you going to say "they did it for my actions in life" then not delve further? So you're saying you deserved it? Then why should we be sympathetic?

I agree too......

But with that said..... I think I'm about 45 minutes or so from where you live........ if you aren't going to bother to do anything...... would you mind if I came and stole your stuff next time?
