there's been a lot of people feeling the need to justify, and perhaps sway people, going neutral. they do this for many reasons. here's why I won't go neutral. I figure hell if everyone feels I should know their reasons to do it I may as well climb on the soapbox too.
1. Mama didn't raise no foo. I know quality when I sees it, and once you see it how can you accept anything less. 2. when I bought a dvd player I did not then go buy a laserdisc player because it had some movies that weren't out on dvd yet. it made no damn sense. same thing here. 3. prolonging the ''war'' that should have been over next month, but will now continue into next year. 4. I refuse to support a crappy product meant only to be an improvement over old technology. I don't want a new type of carburetor in my new car, I want fuel injection, and maybe even a cold air incuction. 5. lastly I won't buy hd dvd because.....well.....i'm not a *****. thank you for paying attention to me. add/edit: it is perfectly acceptable to me that hd dvd supporters go neutral. and I would like to see more ''i used to be hd exclusive, now i'm supporting blu too. GO BLU!'' Last edited by buckshot; 11-21-2007 at 04:06 PM. |

I fully agree, I'll never go neutral either.
There are already enough people prolonging this war. Everything I want will eventually be on Blu-ray anyway. |

What the heck is cold air incuction?
I had a cold air induction on my Z28 a few years ago but never an incuction. ![]() |

I decided that the only way I will ever buy an HD-DVD player, is when I can buy a good but affordable one from a company better than Toshiba.
If that happens, it is likely that HD-DVD would have won, but somehow I think this will not happen. Besides, I can't spend another couple of hundred on another player, another HDMI cord, and an HDMI switch. |

switching from red to blu makes perfect sense. the other way....not so much.
and yes its cold air induction. I won't edit though. I accept my shame. no offense intended to the senior members here who have been neutral since the get go. |

While I am perfectly happy to replace SD's with Blu's, I will not for any reason temporarily buy a bunch of reds that I know I certainly will later replace with Blu's. That's the true waste of money.
I am convinced that by next year at this time, we're all going to wonder what the fuss was all about because the medics aren't even bothering to paddle HD. It's fully flatlined, and all those lovely titles that some of us just couldn't wait to buy, regardless of format, have been available--for months--in Blu. -Greg |

I had a friend who has a PS3 say that over Xmas he may buy a HD DVD player because they're cheap. He still wants BD to win, as he sees it as the better technology, but he wants some of HD DVD's exclusive movies. I told him I had thought about it, but that in the end it just exacerbates the format war, and delays any resolution. He's smart enough to know that I did not mean that he alone doing it would have this effect, but that enough people thinking like that would, and I was able to talk him out of it. I told him about Terminator 3 coming to Blu-ray, showing WB will be making up for the titles like Batman Begins, and that just helped my argument. Averted disaster there!

The HD DVD group knows that their only chance in the foreseeable future is coexistance. I believe that some coming in here and claiming neutral is the way to go are paid shills.
Being an old LD guy, I wanted the format that was going to provide the best video and lossless audio without comprimising. BD gives me that and I know that companies like Disney and Sony are trying to deliver maximum quality. BD combined with high capacity AND high bitrate/bandwidth does more for audio and video than HD DVD will ever do. I have not purchased many WHV titles due to them just porting HD DVD titles over. I don't really give a rat's behind about PiP or Java/HDi encoded games. In the end it is about maximum audio and video quality and BD goes far beyond HD DVD. |
