Default Insomniac Games PS3 Game Announcement Before PAX

Insomniac Games August 2010 Newsletter

WE’RE ABOUT TO ANNOUNCE OUR NEXT GAME | THE DRY SPELL ENDS!

It’s been a long road since we launched Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time to your rave reviews last Fall. While we haven’t had any new game content to show you since then, that’s about to change in a big way. And yes, we realize we’re announcing an announcement, and that we announced this newsletter announcement via a Twitter/Facebook announcement earlier this week. We feel a little bad about announcing the announcement of an announcement – but on the other hand, you’re excited and so are we.

With that, we’re happy to reveal that we’ll be announcing our newest game sometime between now and the Penny-Arcade Expo over Labor Day weekend. We’re really excited to finally reveal this project, and we couldn’t resist being the first to share the news with you. Even bigger news is that newsletter subscribers will be the first folks to see the trailer: the instant we announce the game – we’ll be blasting a newsletter with the trailer for you to view at home. The only way to be the very first to see what we’re cooking up next – is to be a subscriber of this newsletter – so tell your friends!

We can’t wait to hear what you think – so make sure you head to the forums, or drop us a line on Facebook or Twitter with your thoughts!

INSOMNIAC AT PAX PRIME 2010 | SEE YOU IN SEATTLE

Want to be the first members of the public to see our new game being played with your own eyes? We’re bringing our new game to a very special Penny-Arcade Expo panel on Saturday evening (September 4th), at 6:30pm in the Serpent Theatre. G4TV’s Adam Sessler will moderate a panel with key creative talent from Insomniac Games as we discuss (and demo!) our upcoming PlayStation 3 project. It’s going to be a really fun session, and you will see things no one else has laid eyes on!

If you’re a fan of the Full Moon Show podcast – you won’t want to miss The Full Moon Show LIVE. Taking place on Sunday, September 5th at 1:30pm in the Unicorn Theatre, we will be bringing you a never-before-seen look into the Insomniac Games’ North Carolina studio. Join Senior Community Manager James Stevenson, NC Studio Director Chad Dezern, and NC Production Director Shaun McCabe as they discuss what it’s like to work at Insomniac’s newest studio. Plus special Mystery Guest and I Want Your Job segments, and plenty of time for your questions!

And if you can’t make it to Seattle for Labor Day weekend – stay tuned to InsomniacGames.com as we’ll be posting videos in the weeks after so you can catch-up on the proceedings!

"We couldn't resist being the first to show it to you..."

Talk about reading between the lines. Wishful thinking I think.

When did they release the Resistance games? The Ratchet & Clanks came out in October, right? I can't see Resistance 3 being released in 2010 since there haven't been any screenshots or anything. Maybe an early 2011 release or are we talking October 2011?

Resistance: Fall Of Man was a PS3 launch title, and Resistance 2 was released in November 2008.

I am hoping for a Resistance 3. Especially after..... yeah, we know what happened.

All "signs" point to:

All Im gonna say is that its about damn time this project was officially announced.

I am also curious to see what they bring to the multi-plat table since we all know that Resistance and Ratchet & Clank aren't leaving the good ole PS3.

Shin-Ra (or anyone else who knows)

Is it true that Sony was disappointed with Resistance 2 when it came out and felt it was rushed to make it into the 2008 holiday?

Or is it vice-versa in that Sony rushed Insomniac to finish it so they could compete with Gears of War 2?

Are we getting ahead of ourselves? It would seem that this is a Resistance 3 announcement, but could this also be the announcement of multiplat?

I want to see Resistance 3 with the return of campaign co op. But I have a feeling that they'll be talking about their new multiplatform title.

I will take care of this. No one can, it's private information that isn't supposed to made public. Sorry.

Whether it is a multi-plat or PS3 exclusive won't matter, it will still be a good game, I'm sure.

Loved R1, but R2 stunk. I'm pretty hyped for R3, especially with the extra time they're taking with it.

Resistance 3 it is then. FINALLY!!!!

If not, its still Insomniac.

I have this weird feeling that the release date will be given for April the same time as Gears of War 3.

The Resistance series and Gears of War series have had similar release dates for quite some time.

By the way, Maximus or Shin-Ra do any either of you think that Gears of War will no longer be exclusive after Gears 3?

There have been rumors (although it will NEVER be publicly acknowledged for obvious reasons) that Epic wished that they had never signed an exclusive agreement and that they won't be doing it again.

Its kind of weird, but I felt that R2 was better than R1 in every measurable way (better boss battles, more location variety, more in depth story), but R1 was better in the non-measurable ways.

Ala What made R2 better also made it worse.

I would like to have the best parts from both games brought over into the third.

That would make R3 the best.

I'm still pretty shocked from the last several seconds of R2.

What R2 could have used was more co-op campaigns via DLC.

i really don't understand why so many people thought R2 was bad. i know we all have different opinions, but i just don't get it. it is probably my favorite game of all time. awesome levels, bosses, weapons, gameplay...the game was epic. how can it be so bad when it got rave reviews...including several perfect scores from major review publications? and if i recall, it won "FPS of the year". for those of you that keep saying it was bad, what do you expect in a FPS? what is your criteria for a good shooter? i have never encountered anyone in person that didn't think R2 was amazing, and i have a lot of gaming friends. the only people that i hear complaining about it are those on message boards.

I don't think many people thought it was bad per se, but it was in many ways a different experience from the first one. In that case different didnt always equal better.

I thought it was a huge huge HUGE improvement over Resistance: Fall of Man, I hated FOM. I think Resistance 2 is really good, it isn't overly scary, but enough to give you paranoia while playing it. The one thing it did flaw at was multiplayer, it's mulitiplayer was still stuck in the stone-ages.
