The most important thing to a center channel is that it Timbre Matches the fronts . So for best results you would want the same brand as the fronts .

Welcome to the forum Bigoez!

Are we starting from scratch?
Do you have any existing speakers already?

If not, id suggest to invest more into the center speaker, than your current budget. The center would carry around 90% of the dialogue, and most details are found in this track as well. If possible, you can also have them matching your current speakers you have to get a good, seamless transitional soundstage.

Nonetheless, give us more details and we can give you more detailed answers.

Welcome to the forum!

im akwardly at work right now, thus the delayed postings.

nonetheless, i guess im being a tad finicky about suggesting something that id know, in the long run, would be replaced by something else in the future. no need in upgrading when we can get that 'upgraded' unit in the first place.

my stance on building a HT would generally be 'spend once on some very good set of speakers, avoiding those small incremental steps to get to that point.'...

these are investments right?

No, speakers are like fish and go bad after a certain number of periods. They need to be replaced often.

are you planning on getting klipsch fronts?

If your ultimate plan is to get some F-1s or F-2s, then I would suggest that you get the C-2 from klipsch as well... it would be a better center channel.

Look at vanns.com also, they have some klipsch stuff on sale ATM.

as callas has noted, its difficult for us to recommend a center speaker, without knowing what your plans are for the future. Considering that the fronts have to seamlessly perform with each other, getting the best bang for your buck would mean trying to keep them all within the same tonal balance and characteristics. No point in spending for something cheap, then end up upgrading over and over again, wasting the initial expenses on the previous ones.

So my questions (as callas has inquired) would be
1. what would be your potential fronts?
2. how much budget are we willing to place on the soundstage (fronts and center), and maybe we can work with it.
3. are you currently goin to keep the yamaha fronts? if so, do you know the model numbers?

its easy to recommend an inexpensive center speaker, but know that in the past, a number of people would end up spending money over and over incessantly, when we couldve saved you more money with a 'better' option.
