Default Zack Synder's Dawn of the Dead

I know the Blu-ray contains the Director's Cut and that it's slightly digitally censored by adding blood on a windshield. Because of that it creates a small continuity error, but I'm okay with that. I have seen worse. But my question is: how's the picture quality? The review on here gives it 3.5/5 and the screenshots look decent enough. But I wanted to know what people on this board think about it. How does it look when it's in motion? How would you rate it? Any comparisons to other Blu-rays in terms of picture quality?

Btw, the screenshots for those who don't know about the censorship:

PQ is quite good (a solid 4 in my book). The picture is very grainy (not 300 grainy, but grainy), but doesn't appear to be too noisy (however, darker scenes do see grain level spikes). I'd stop short of calling it "reference" quality, but I'd say that any faults are in the intended look, not the transfer.

Anyone know if an import version has the unedited scene (on BD)?

Can't speak to the quality but from what I know, it's pretty much an improved (resolution wise) transfer of the unrated DVD. It has the same dirt and the like in the added portions. I watch the Asian DVD release which is completely uncut.

The Australian DVD was uncut if I recall, and a release of it on Blu-ray is impending. I sure hope it's not censored. I really doubt it would be.

I've seen that movie a couple times, I don't remember that scene...weird. The Blu-ray is pretty decent. I remember the color being a little over saturated in parts, but that could have been my setup at the time.

Ok the topless girl was always censored in America.

Alternate versions for

Dawn of the Dead (2004)

The theatrical R-rated cut of the film is 100 minutes long. However, as usual for Universal Home Video, an unrated "Director's Cut" has been released on DVD alongside the R-rated theatrical print. This cut has been officially timed at 110 min and contains more character development and gore.

On the Region-1 unrated DVD the naked woman in the beginning is "hidden" from added digital blood on the car windshield. However, on international releases of the director's cut, there is no blood and the woman is fully visible. It is still uncertain as to whether or not this was a choice by director Zach Snyder or by Universal.

The original R-rated theatrical release is missing a scene near the beginning of a naked woman coming out of a bus. This scene has been restored on the director's cut.

I'd give the PQ a solid 4 and the AQ a 5!
