Default The Powerpuff Girls Movie (Widescreen)

Hell, I don't even need this on BLU-RAY specifically. I just need it in Widescreen.

http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/ppgmovie.php

Just look at the various instances widescreen improved the film.

This is why I haven't bothered picking this up despite being a big Powerpuff Girls fan. I don't know what possessed WB to do something like that, especially in a time where dual widescreen and fullscreen releases were very common.

I love the Powerpuff Girls but didn't really enjoy the movie or at least could have been way better, even though I do own the dvd and have also watched it on Cartoon Network.

Warner probably didn't figure that they should spend the money on making a widescreen as well as a fullscreen release since they don't really give Cartoon Network shows much respect since they figure it won't be a top-seller but at the same time have the movie being shown like as if it was just another Powerpuff Girls tv episode.

That's true. It's the same way with Pokemon. I love the series and I've seen a good few of the movies up to Pokemon 5 in theatres, but there's not a single widescreen version available in the US. What's worse, the DVD of the first movie I think has a bug with the transfer when Machamp is released, it sorta pans up a certain bit, but skips back a few seconds to repeat said pan before continuing on.

I always thought the show was better, but I understand that Craig wanted to make the movie less lighthearted to distance the franchise from the girl-centered marketing it began to develop. I'd still buy it as I'm a sucker for origin stories, and I don't think it's too far-fetched of an idea. At that last Warner TV/Animation HTF chat, when asked if they'd re-release widescreen things in widescreen, they said they were considering such a thing for blu-ray. And as for Cartoon Network shows getting poor treatment, I wouldn't say that's all that much true recently. A few of those old Cartoon Cartoons have gotten some "Hall of Fame" releases this year. Sure some of these shows' releases got the shaft and were discontinued in the past, but of all those shows, PPG got the best treatment including a complete series 10th anniversary boxset (which was done rather nicely I might add), so of those titles WB is considering for a widescreen blu-ray release I'm sure this is on the list.

I hear in the widescreen version, Frylock from ATHF makes a background cameo.

Default Blu-ray and stuff...

I don't think the series would do good on Blu, since it was produced in SD, and I already have the series box set, so that's probably a no-no. The movie on the other hand, being produced in widescreen, would be an excellent contestant for Blu-ray! After all, it only got a fullscreen DVD, so this would be like its first home video release all over again!

i have never seen the movie, though i always wanted to. over the years i had caught it on cartoon network but by the time i saw it was just about over so i would just turn it off. today though i added it to my movie list on blockbuster but it said there would be a long wait, and i am starting to wonder if it would just be easier to buy the movie. can anyone help me??

I disagree. DVDs from SD sources still have artifacts that are not in the original source. The bigger your screen, the more you notice this. I would buy my daughter anything they'd be willing to release on blu for the PowerPuff Girls.

I would love to see this one BR. Come to think of it, wasn't this movie not even released in widescreen even though it was a theatrical released movie?

WB Home Entertainment and Cartoon Network are reissuing The Powerpuff Girls Movie on June 4, 2019. DVD Only. No information yet as to whether this will include the film in its OAR though.

I'm surprised this is actually getting a retail re-release and not through the Warner Archive (not that I'm complaining!)

Considering the recent shake-ups within Turner and WB, as well as how Cats Don't Dance finally got a widescreen release through the Archive, I honestly thought any new release of TPPGM would be through WAC. Again, I must stress, whether it's OAR or not is unknown. Although an HD version of the film was available on Cartoon Network On Demand.

Sounds reasonable, but then again, the film is getting re-released this summer, and I don't know if it's in the original aspect ratio or the same as the original 2002 release.

They should have done this one as an apology for that horrible reboot.

Considering that many movie studios don't do Pan-&-Scan versions of their films anymore, the widescreen presentation of this film is possible, but I might be wrong.
