I know you didn't ask me, but Andrei Tarkovsky's Andrei Rublev is out in Russia. It was released (in a longer "Dom Kino" cut) by The Criterion Collection on DVD in 1999, but the source material is in dire need of restoration for 1080p, and Criterion have stated that they have no plans to release the film on Blu-ray at this point.
The Russian BD can be had for US $21 shipped to the USA from Kniga.ru. The thread here should help you figure out how to order it successfully. Note that I have not found another Russian shop that is currently willing to ship outside of the Russian Federation. Even well-known sites like Ozon.ru are not shipping internationally right now, for reasons that are unclear to me. |

McCrutchy has already provided some good info. What genres are you interested in? And I assume the discs have to be English-friendly? Pro-B |

"My iz dzhaza" (Jazzman) was popular in its time. And nowadays its rating on kinopoisk.ru (the biggest Russian movie site) is 7.8 of 10 (1170 votes). But I dislike this movie. Really I dislike all movies directed by Karen Shakhnazarov. Maybe it's a personal allergy.

If you speak Russian or Ukrainian, you could import the Russian release here as Kniga.ru will ship internationally, but according to the site, it contains only Ukrainian subtitles. I cannot find any other BD releases of the film. Welcome! ![]() McCrutchy |

Thanks for the info in this thread.
I'm looking for 3 types of Russian related BluRay pretty much. 1- Like the OP in this thread, Russian films with English subtitles 2-English films with Russian subs 3-English films with Russian Dubbing. My girl speaks good English and I speak reasonable Russian, but we both prefer having subtitles in our native languages so we can relax alittle and not have to concentrate so hard ![]() Any help or pointers to BD's that contain the above would be a massive help, I have just trolled google for the best part of 2 hours with little luck :/ |

Check the first page of the topic "Import with Russian Localization" on Russian forum: http://forum.totaldvd.ru/m_938436/tm.htm The lists of BD releases from Russian shops: http://www.kniga.ru/dvd/section/20104 http://www.ozon.ru/context/catalog/id/1098694/ For UK releases you can use a search by language of audio and/or subtitles on Blu-World: http://www.blu-world.co.uk/en/Default.aspx?change=1 (though the information here is not always reliable). |

Yes, English subtitles is a must. I am not particular about a genre though I love war movies. Please recommend some blu's.
