Default Little Kids?

Does anybody hate when your company brings little kids with them? Rather its Family members staying with you and they decide to bring either their kids or grandchildren etc. or whatever.

Call me crazy but I dont like it. They seem to want to get into everything. They make me a crazy. But you cant be rude and say.

Are you bringing your kid, grandchild etc. You are? Oh your not welcome then or oh I forgot today isnt a good day.

What do you guys do when someone brings a kid that is young enough to want to just run around and not listen to anything you tell them. Maybe between the ages of when they just started to walk till maybe 10.

I tell them to go play w/my kids.

Me & my buddies all have kids 4 years old and younger and we have a standing agreement that if we get together, the kids are all welcome.

Same problem here.
No solution that I know of.

I never have any problems with little kids running around the house or getting into my things. If I or someone else tells them not to touch anything they won't unless they get permission.

as you get older and have kids of your own, u tend to relax a bit more about things like this. that's why i was asking.

if you're that worried about your equipment....tell the parents how you feel (i'm anal about my stuff too so i know how you feel) and how expensive things are and if anything gets wrecked you expect it to be replaced.

it's not too much to expect if it's your place and it's your stuff. if something gets broken, it gets fixed or replaced....simple.

if they don't like that, they can leave the kids @ home.

Yeah if the kids break something the parents should know they have to replace that broken item. Maybe why I'm relaxed because if something did happen I know I will get it replaced.

I'm 31, and don't bring your kids to my place. And no you can't have a ride in my car, only have two seats. I live in a kid free zone.

I don't really like going over to anyone's house to hang out if they have young kids either. It always ends up just being about them and gets annoying fast. The parents have the attention span of a dead gnat it seems.

Don't get me wrong though, I like kids, was a great babysitter growing up, but as an adult, I just don't want to hang around them.

I never have company, but I hate little kids. I hated little kids when I was a little kid. That's probably why I never had little kids. But seriously, I was a latchkey kid at 6 years old (Dad left for another woman, who he married and divorced twice). You grow up quick and feel responsible for things and won't tolerate childishness.

But even more seriously, if you're inviting visitors with little kids, you should expect them. If they are not invited, kick their arses out.

I like kids..but I hate brats
and usually if a kid is a brat, I blame the parents for letting them be like that.

If kids get into my stuff I would understand that..but if adults act like kids and get into my stuff then that's a different story all together.

but yeah..it's all about choosing who you invite to your home..kid or adult

When my wife invites people over with little kids Its normally agreed upon that the kids have to stay home lol I don't want finger prints on my stuff; I'm way to OCD for that. When I have kids of my own I'll just make a dedicated HT room and keep it locked.

Funny, I have 2 children....7 and 5. They have never touched a piece of my home theater, beyond the remote. I love my kids, and would trade every piece of gear I have for either one of them. If your child knows to respect their surroundings, then it shouldn't be an issue.

I had a child over for a sleepover that tried to shove something in my sub port, let's just say he hasn't been back.

I would say that is on the parents to teach their children to be respectful, if they aren't it is the parents fault. I wouldn't want them staying at my house either.

QFT. I used to be anti kid now we have one and that has changed. Our 8 month old is already understanding what the word "no" means. When friends with kids come over they know if something gets broke then they are responsible to replace it but most of the kids that come here also know the word "no".

Our son is also one of the main reasons the nice stuff is in a separate building, lol, more due to volume but it's a nice safety feature.

Bill

Yep so true age doesn't matter if the kids have been taught respect and to respect people's property they will. If they haven't then they won't and I wouldn't want them over.

The child is a direct reflection of the parents and their morals. If you don't accept the kids, sure as hell don't ask the parents to stay.
