Release date of 9/28/10 from Alliance

Here's some info: This will be the same as the US 2nd release w/ plenty of extras (since Canada NEVER got that edition). The only 'inferior' (so-sayeth the OP) CDN discs are ones that are exclusive to Canada for Region-A, since Alliance tends to grab from cable TV masters etc. I believe that this is not an HMV exclusive, & will be a steelbook Canada-wide, but am basing that on nothing... I also higly doubt a digital copy will be included (darn near useless anyhow).

Ya, too much writing, but that is an exact copy of the Amaray cover art, so maybe it's just a place holder?

The worst thing for the SteelBook community is that HMV.ca doesn't sell online, these will be in-store only items.

I think he was suggesting this cover is reminiscent of SPR.

Regarding the link, just do a search on the HMV.ca site and you will see the SteelBook listing.

If this does come to pass, it looks like the days of steelbook exclusivity belonging to futureshop may be coming to an end as this would be the 3rd steelbook in Canada that did not come from FutureShop

Crash, if you are referring to HALO LEGENDS and the RUSH SteelBooks, there are quite a few more that have been released outside of Future Shop.

Off the top of my head, I can think of DEAD SNOW which had a wide SteelBook release like the RUSH movie did.

I have also found SteelBooks at Walmart Canada including GI JOE and LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY.

Mind you, none of these were advertised as 'exclusive' as Future Shop does.

There are quite a few SteelBooks at HMV as well. I just can't remember the names off the top of my head.

If you go to your local HMV store, ask the people there and they might be able to give you a list.

I was referring soley to BD steelbook releases, but you are absolutely correct about the DVD steelbook releases being widespread across various Canadian retailers

Is there another kind?

I really hope these HMV titles are blu-ray sized, don't want to get my hopes too high though.

I gotta say that I sort of prefer the German cover ... I guess having Mr. Chigurh in the cover gives it a bit more character

If so it may be G1 like Rush, another Alliance title. Of course I am speculating but if this is the case it will be on Amazon.ca

It's just the re-release, the current version out is 1-disc...that may just for be the listing for the 2 disc(+ DC) version which HMV decided to give the steel treatment?

It makes sense, since Canada will is also just getting the remastered GONY in Sep...which is the version apparently getting a steelbook.
