Or do we have to wait until January to see some updated hardware releases?
I gotta tell you, I have ants in my pants, and I can't stand not being able to fully experience DTS master audio, but I keep telling myself in a few weeks there will be more players available that will be more updatable via firmware than those already capable of decoding or passing MA. I'm really just waiting until we finish upgrading our basement for our home theater to purchase another player, but it's really, really hard to do. If my family lived closer (they are in Detroit area) I would just keep buying new stuff and handing the old stuff down, but if I shipped my used stuff to them, they would not know what to do with it. Denon was supposed to have a new player this fall, but there are only about three or four weeks left. Pioneer has something slated for January, right? What else is coming up? |

It will be January at the earliest. And the reason is simple. Stores book shelf space usually by the end of Oct. and if a company cannot guarentee it to be there then they move on to the next unit. As to the Pioneer Jan thing it is a Announcement a CES so that unit should be 3 months off from then would be my guess. But they might have it ready.
For audio they will either do it or not. The only units I have heard anything about getting FW to send MA is the new Sonys. Which why the sent them out without it boggles my mind. The denon was delayed to Jan from what I have read as well. But it is the worst buy of them all since it has a 2K price tag. |

the denon comes out in Japan in Jan. Last I have read about the denon is they lowered the price on one of the units to $1k.
Nothing more this year, CES is coming very soon & that is when we will hear about the release of the gen 4 & 5 players. So Feb/March is when the nex gens will start come out & then Sept/Oct for gen 5 players. It takes time to do R&D & then they have to produce, box, ship & market the players, that takes months to a year. |

OP,
Panny BD30 to the rescue. This standalone player is awesome. I have it coupled with the Onyko SR605 via HDMI. The most extensive reviews and opinions are on avsforum.com. I have a PS3 but this player so far takes the cake! Some folks hate the fan noise on the PS3 but that is not a factor with the BD30. |
