Default Red Box Blu-ray Resource Thread...

It appears Red Box is finally starting seriously stock their machines with Blu ray movies. Although I have not seen the sticker above on any locations near where I lived I've just recently ran across two locations today far from where I live that had blu's. So I pulled over and scooped, COTT, Hot Tub, Repo Man & Kick Ass.

The first thing that I thought of was could I return the movies to a Red Box where I lived that did not have blu's in it yet? Furthermore if I were able to would the blu's show on the screen as being able to rent for someone else. So I got on the phone with a Red Box rep some where is India (HATE OUTSOURCING) and he told me I could return any blu's to any location AND those machines that did not have blu's will now with the ones returned. Kuool!!

So I thought I'd start a resource thread dedicated to point out locations that have blu's for someone who may live in the area. Hopefully this thread won't last long but the more we rent Blu's from Red Box perhaps the faster they'll update their current machines with more or some if they had none. One man helps the next man...
Furthermore I just plugged in the zip code of the location below @ Red Box and the query returned states no Red Box locations carry blu...

Zip Code: 20109
Street: Sudley Road
City: Manassas
State: VA
Location: Two different 7-Eleven's

I use there website to locate the local machines around me...3 of them! 2 have blu stocked. I just check the machines stock on redbox.com reserve the rental I want and You have to pick it up within like 24 hours or something like that! can't beat it for $1.50

After reading both threads I decided to check my closest RB online and low and behold the have about 10 blu's for rent.

I usually search for locations that stock blu's but after reading the thread I decided to just check the closest for dvd's and even thou this location isn't listed when you do a blu-ray search they have about 10 blus to rent.

Not bad for 1.50 and if you just join you get the next rental free.

I still haven't rented a dvd or blu-ray from Redbox. Why should I rent from them?

You never know who else on the forum lives in close proximity and it definitely appears that Red Box machines may not be updated with the Blu sticker on the front even though they may have blu's in them. I'll get back to that in a second...

Before I converted I used Red Box frequently but stopped once I got blu. I was wondering when the machines near me were going to get updated, I've been looking for the sticker but not actually checking the machine. This is something I just did.

As I mentioned in my initial post I have a location near me that has two Red Box machines in the same location. I just checked and both machines have 2 blu's each. So again "check" your Red Box they may have blu's even if they do not have the sticker. The other thing I noticed the last few Red Box machines I looked at have a revised or updated navigation screen menu. This may be a hint that your Red Box machines may have blu's even if when you check they do not. Either they are on the way soon or they could be rented out at the moment.

do you have any choices in your area? Outside of Netflix or Cable on demand? Hollywood is closed and BlockBuster has been downsizing. Not many places to drop by any more to pick up a movie.

Most of the Blockbusters in my area are still up and running plus I'm still using their online service. Netflix is cheaper for a one day rental but how's the condition of the blu-ray discs? I'd hate to pay for it and get ripped off by a scratched disc. I'm sure there's customer service but why go through the hassle?

I've had almost 30 blu-ray discs shipped to my home from Netflix, not one of them was in poor condition. Every one of them played flawlessly...

I was surprised to find all the redboxes near me have BDs, though a very slim selection of about 5 titles. Hopefully their inventory will increase soon!

Well it seems if you go to Redbox.com, as of today there's an orange banner that states "See what Blu Ray Disc's are available to rent near you". If you click on that it will bring to a field to plug in your zip code, that search field is not accurate. Click on any of the movies below then enter your zip code, not only will it more accurately display where that movie is near you to rent, you can reserve the blu as well...
