Default New anti-HD-DVD ads

I did a quick search, and didn't see anything on this yet.

Has anyone seen the new Blu-Ray ads that attack HD-DVD directly?

Yeah. but I still think this kind of negative ad campaigning is a BAD idea.
It does not do anything positive for Blu-ray, only brings criticism. And even though it is funny, and probably true also, it is not convincing anyone to join Blu-ray!

Yes, but this is the "fighting back" we keep asking for

When you enemy kicks you in the nuts repeatedly, time to strap on the golf spikes and kick back.

You can be principled all you want, but when they fight dirty, you have to be willing to get dirtier (fighting dirty does not include firesales, that's fighting stupid)

The BDA did say they were taking their "gloves off"... guess this is part of it.

Not sure about that...so, DVD doesn't have a R.I.P. date but HD-DVD does?

Anyone notice that the disc in the second video is a Sony CD-R?

I think we should not just blindly attack them like this. If we are to be offensive more than defensive, we should use the facts! SHow HOW BD is better... like the storage, the bandwidth, the support, and titles, the selection, etc...
Just attacking like this is childish and does not reflect well on BD.

im all for "taking the gloves off" but these ads seem home made to me. are these really aired anywhere?

and yes, without giving legit reasons for why blu is better, it is a little childish.

Being principled and has been a major factor in contributing to the longevity of the format war. HD DVD still has major hearts and minds factor BECAUSE of what they've done

They don't have the sales, but they have the buzz

They're specifically for YouTube and for the demo that responds to that kind of ad

It would be nice if Sony aired commercials like ones above letting consumer's know what blu-ray really is.
This format war would have been over long ago...Just like in Japan

Hopefully these multiply and anyone who reads this thread that are youtubers and have good production skills should keep making them. I would laugh at anything that dudders would make filled with fud; the only angle they could take is:

if your looking for something with lower PQ and AQ along with some pretty low bitrates for CHEAP you know where to go.

But............

If you want true Hi Def Picture and Sound in stunning 1080P along with the mojority of Studio Support, you may want to go to the other guys - Blu ray

Aren't these ads fan made? I can't really see the BDA doing something like this, regardless how hot of a war they are in. I highly doubt you'll be seeing these on TV anytime soon, but if they end up being legit....I'll gladly eat my words.

No, they were made by an ad agency for the viral video campaign. They're supposed to look cheap and "fan made"

I'm not for negative ADs, but the first one is affective, because it will put HD-DVD in peoples mindset as another Beta, that will become obsolete soon. It gets consumers questioning HD-DVD as the future technology, and thus think twice before buying a cheap HD-DVD player. Thus it is quite educational, and hopefully, they question it enough to research and discover that Blu is the future, and therefore not jump on a firesale and buy just anything.

These aren't really ads. They aren't appearing anywhere on tv.
