Fox are beyond worthless. Lie to Me Season 2 was just announced for DVD only as well on top of the long list of shows they have done this too. I sure wish I didn't like White Collar Season 1 because I know I am not getting Season 2. Which is why I also hate seeing people say they will wait until stuff is cheaper. Yeah lower prices are nice but spend a little extra and maybe Fox will keep the support going. Even then I doubt it because they are morons but it might help. Paramount, Warner and others are annoying for the lack of shows that they should be releasing on Blu-Ray (Californication!!!!) but at least they are sticking with shows if they do give them the Blu-Ray treatment. Chuck under Fox sure as hell wouldn't have all three seasons up to now on Blu-Ray (As of Tuesday that is). I also like that Paramount have not just done recent shows and have done stuff like Star Trek. Wonder if they could ever do I Love Lucy on Blu-Ray. Did such an awesome job on the DVD sets of that and put so much care into them that I wouldn't be shocked if they did manage something like that on Blu-Ray.

Was it announced that it was officially dropped? Or are we just assuming? I remember a year or two ago, Chuck and one other show were assumed not getting a release because it wasnt announced with the DVD. But a short while after the DVD hit, the BD releases were solicted, about maybe 2 months later if memory serves? I guess I'm just hioping this is another one of these situations.
I dropped my DVR last year, and I gave Chuck my priority, so HIMYM and Big Bang Theory I had planned to catch when the BD sets came out. I have BBT preordered, so I'm good there. I was hoping HIMYM was just late. ![]() |

I talked to the guys over at tvshowsondvd.com a little while back and they said that a lot of shows were experimented with on blu (HIMYM being one of them) and they didn't sell as well as the studios hoped. Therefore the newer seasons aren't being released on blu yet but the studios apparently said that as the blu-ray format becomes more and more mainstream, these shows will eventually see a blu release.

HIMYM has become one of my favorite shows of all time. Even though Season 4 on blu-ray had some issues, I will not be happy if Season 5 isn't released on blu-ray. However, I'll be even unhappier if they release Season 5 on DVD now and then the blu-ray 6 months or more from now after I've already broken down and bought the DVDs.
Blu-ray is the present and the future, Hollywood. Quit living in the past with your DVDs. |

This is why I just ordered It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Season 5 on DVD. (That and the fact that it's only upscaled, since it was shot in standard def.) I have one season of Grey's Anatomy on Blu, and the first season of Damages -- incomplete and annoying!

I absolutely refuse to buy Season 5 on dvd. I'm not giving them that satisfaction. If a show is FILMED IN HD you better freakin release it in HD. How freakin hard is that concept. I mean, Sunny was filmed in SD and it's still on blu-ray.
Pathetic. |

I can understand that, but that's just part of the territory with a newer format. I believe there's an article on the front page of this site that says tv on blu-ray sales are up 84% so obviously things are improving. It makes sense therefore that season 5 on blu-ray would've sold better than season 4.

I agree. I hate having to go back to SD knowing how it looked when it aired in HD. I understand that apparently Season 4 didn't sell as well as they thought, but why don't they just not produce as many for Season 5 instead of not producing it at all? Blu-ray is clearly increasing. I just don't get it. |
