They said the playable demo was running on an Xbox 360.

All of the pictures have an Xbox 360 controller in them. One of them even has someone using an Xbox 360 controller.

And like you they probably assumed the platform just by the controller it's being played with.

In case you didn't know, some PC games support the Xbox 360 controller. For demoing purposes it's more convenient than setting up tables and chairs with keyboards and mice.

Maybe they saw the 360's there? Have to take their word for it since they were there, and you or I weren't.

Yes, some PC' games support 360 controllers.

How many 360s support the escape key?

*EDIT* And the mouse pointer?

Apparently, the presentation demo was running on a PC, while the playable demo was on a 360.

Wasn't trying to imply the game won't be on 360, just know that Borderlands was PC/360/PS3, and Borderlands PC supports the 360 controller so it's almost assured that DNF will too.

Duke Nukem 3D was one of the first ever first-person shooters i ever played on pc, and i played deathmatch over LAN with friends relentlessly for many years. I am bowled over that Duke Nukem Forever is finally going to see the light of day.

Goddamn awesome!

'We bought Duke Nukem.' Franchise rights transferred from 3D Realms to Gearbox

by Christopher Grant on Sep 5th 2010 7:15PM

Quote:
Just two days after revealing its stewardship of the Duke Nukem Forever title at PAX, Gearbox Software just revealed that it has actually purchased the Duke Nukem brand. Gearbox president Randy Pitchford told an audience at PAX this afternoon that they're not just making sure Duke Nukem Forever makes it to store shelves, but they've actually purchased the entire Duke Nukem IP. "We actually bought the brand," Pitchford told fans. "We bought Duke Nukem."

A press release timed to go out with the announcement has some more information. Here's the big picture quote: "Gearbox Software announced today that it has acquired the full intellectual property rights of the 'Duke Nukem' brand including Duke Nukem Forever and all future projects in a cooperative deal made with 3D Realms." Even more interesting: "The first product to be available under the Duke Nukem brand will be the long awaited Duke Nukem Forever." Naturally, if they're buying the brand you can imagine DNF won't be the last game to feature the Duke.

Pitchford made a point to say that Alan Blum, the creator of the Duke Nukem franchise, is now with Gearbox. "He's on the 10th floor with his team," he said. He also wanted to explain that this franchise couldn't simply have been purchased by anyone. "I didn't buy it from [3D Realms]," Pitchford said. "They sold it to me." In the press release, 3D Realms' Scott Miller said, "Gearbox was handpicked as the new home for Duke Nukem because of their continued passion, commitment and long-time heritage with the brand and 3D Realms."

So, Duke Begins then?

Default Duke Nukem Forever - Dated!

Quote:
Did you think this day would ever arrive? You did?! You shut your lying mouth!

You knew that Duke Nukem Forever would actually receive an official, concrete release date? Dubious.

Well, it’s been announced, and it’s in May.

Duke Nukem Forever Logo

Gearbox Software, new holders of the Duke Nukem license, has announced that Duke Nukem Forever will finally become available on… wait for it…

May 3rd in North America! And then on May 6th around the rest of the world!

Always, always best on Duke!

President of 2K Games, Christoph Hartmann, said of the announcement:

“The moment fans all over the world have been waiting for is almost here. May 3, 2011 marks Duke’s return as he unleashes his brash and brutally honest wit on the world. His return is going to be epic and one that will make video gaming history!”

To start revving that Hype ‘O Meter, you can look over El33tonline’s past looks at Duke Nukem Forever for tons of screenshots, videos and much more information on what promises to be a blockbuster first-person shooter!

I'm not sure why, but Duke Nukem is listed as being eligible for the buy 2 get 1 free video game sale on BestBuy. They listed the release date as 4/1/11, but I didn't order it since I still suspect it might get delayed again.
