Default Preowned: Pioneer Elites @ BB

i havn't been there in a loooong time so i wanted to take a ride but, for those who live in or near Delaware, i went to BB in Concordville and they had quite a few Elites for sale there "open box" table in the Magnolia section.

they had like 4 25's they looked to b in very good condition selling for $999.
two 27's for $1599 - i think...
and already a 31 for sale but didn't see a price

i feel weird spending that kinda of money for something someone else had and i don't know how they treated it. and i don't buy in to the warranty crap....

i really want a 25, but one of the 25's still had that blue tape still across the top. hmmmmm

but still i'll rather have it out the box......

Chances are, these are floor models (not someone's returned items). Keep in mind, the new model year of Elites is just coming out and Best Buy is probably pushing out the old stock. It's up to you whether you feel the savings are worth it or not.

Something to consider - the SC-25 could be bought on ebay for as low as $999 a few months ago. However, Pioneer Elite doesn't honor their warranty for online purchases (only purchase made in brick and mortar stores). So in this case, you'd be getting a floor model for the same price as what they were going for online, only you'd be keeping the warranty in tact. Decisions, decisions

At that price, with a warranty, you will be making a nice purchase. I love my SC-05. By the way, forget the SC-27 IMO, it doesn't offer enough bells and whistles to justify the higher price tag.

funny, i remembered they had the 31 listed at $1999 but selling it at $1599. which is what the price is on Pioneer site $1600. y don't they just sell it for $1599 without the "price listed" @ $1999. which is NOT true. seems like there doing what Sears did years ago. i guess they think people r stupid and can't find out what the list price is

Angry BB tripping

ok, so i go back to BB yesterday for the 25 and i mean damn they sell quick. they only had 1 25 and 1 27 left. funny all other named receivers still there so many people must love Pio.

anywho, i got the 25 for an extra $100 off cause it had a small scatch on the front for $899 (it was a display unit) i asked did it have all accessories: box, plugs, remote, etc. he said EVERYTHING is there except the box. they normally just throw the box away. so i ask can u plug it in to make sure it worked. everything is fine, he put the plugs and everything else in a bag. as i paid and was going to leave i noticed the remote.

STOP THE PRESSES!!!

i pulled out the remote i said, "WTF" is this. this thing looked like Pioneer made this 10 years ago. i went back and said, "this is NOT the remote that goes with this Elite." can i have the one that goes with it cause i'm NOT taking this at all.

it was cheap and very OLD looking and feeling tacky.

he told me it was one of there universal remotes. i told him, "i don't care what universe it came from i don't want it." it should have the same remote as the ones in the studio room. i took him in there and showed him. every Elite remote look like this with either a black or silver circle in the middle. this remote is not even close to what should it be. this remote was flat wide and about thousand buttons on it.

he told me, "well, u can program it to work the rec." i just look at him and told him, "if u can't give me the remote that comes with it, u can have this unit back." so, he said, "i'll go check in the back for one." then came back and, "we don't any more so that's all we can offer u. i told him in a firm voice (not yelling), "refund my money cause u can have it back."

another employee heard what was going on and went into the studio and grabbed a remote from one of the Elite on display. now why couldn't this idiot do that from the beginning, all this for nothing.

so, have my real remote and i'm

Where did you get that information from? If this is true, which plasma will be technically better, Panasonic or Pioneer?

This is the receiver sub-forum not the TV. Try asking in the TV section. But Pioneer does not make plasma's any longer.
And this thread was about receivers as well.

+1. I felt that way when I contemplated the sc-05 and sc-07. I ended up with the sc-05.
