United Kingdom Lark Rise to Candleford TV series 1-3

Could anyone confirm whether or not the 3 Blu-ray Box sets for "Lark Rise to Candleford" Seasons 1, 2 and 3 are region free?

They are on sale at Amazon.co.uk for ~ 15 pounds each.
Season 1

Season 2

Season 3

I looked at a blu-ray region info site and there was a report that Season 1 is region FREE but 50Hz. What does this mean? Will it play on my regular Sony US Blu-ray player or PS3?

Thanks!

Anyone has this show on Blu-ray here who can confirm whether they are region free or not? I've read a lot of good things about the show and want to buy it if they will work on my US blu-ray player. Thanks.

Season 1 is region free. Haven't tried the other two box sets yet.

While they may be region-free, most BBC UK BDs have 1080i/50Hz encoding, rendering them unplayable on the majority of North American equipment.

Thank you for your inputs. I will wait for a confirmation before I buy them then.

I really wonder whether they will be released in the USA....

We don't joke about 1080i/50hz encoding! While our players enjoy 60hz encoding a lot of US players (including the PS3) aren't so keen.

This is an OLD thread... but I thought I'd mention that my Sony 4K UHD player (UBPX700) and Sony TV are fine playing these discs.

Also my Oppo BDP-103D playing on a JVC X790 projector it worked well too. My guess is that both player and display have to be compatible - one willing to output and one able to interpret.

In case anyone is interested, this is a very good looking transfer, at least from watching the first episode. It's much better than the DVD resolution (which is also interlaced).

I'll probably pick up Season 2 and 3 at some point.

I picked up season 2 and 3. I'm sure Season 4 will never be released on BluRay, I mean it's only been a decade since these came out and no sign of it . S4 will have to still get watched on DVD...
