The next instalment of the multi-million selling Devil May Cry™ franchise, DmC sees Capcom collaborating with UK based Ninja Theory to explore new frontiers for the series.

DmC is in development for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3. From its debut on PlayStation 2 in 2001, the Devil May Cry series has been synonymous with stylish action, rewarding combat and a brash, smart-talking protagonist. This ‘Devil May Cry DNA’ remains but is now injected with a dark and brutal gameplay that promises to redefine the franchise.

Set against a contemporary backdrop, DmC will depict a duplicitous world where nothing is ever as it seems and the line between good and evil is constantly blurred. Spurred into action by the promises of a trusted relation, Dante bursts into this world intent on revenge at any cost. DmCwill retain the series’ signature mix of sword and gunplay but add additional weapons, all new powers and a revitalised gameplay system as players encounter the game’s devilish mix of enemies and navigate the rich, interactive environment.

A true collaboration, DmC sees the team at Ninja Theory joined by key staff from Capcom’s R&D division. Creative direction for the title will be undertaken by Ninja Theory’s Tameen Antionades and overseen by Hedeaki Itsuno, who has worked on all previous titles in the series. DmC is being co-produced by Capcom’s Japanese and North American development operations.

Title in question being developed in SF, and produced by Alex Jones.

Trailer going on now features a guy in a red and black coat with two pistols and a sword. No name yet.

Characters name is Dante, but he looks too young Must be a prequel or Dante's son or something like that.

Developer turns out to be Ninja Theory. That confirms the rumors that had been floating around before the press conference. Infanue says that some might not like an American team heading up DMC, but not to worry. From the trailer, it looks like the game was as Devil May Cry as can be.

Ugh the main character looks so horrible and stupid. Nero was a heck of a lot better looking than this.

As an avid DMC fan (played and beat every DMC multiple times), i'd have to agree with bandit29 and Moonphase that this character design is terrible. Also, if smoking while shooting is their idea of "stylish", Bayonetta needs to perform Joy's torture attack on the entire dev team

I'll hope for the best, but Nero looks genius compared to this guy IMO.

Hate this new look and so far the game I mean I even enjoyed the 4th game but this looks like complete crap. The character designs are awful on for this game.

I hope it controls well and has good combo branching. I didn't really enjoy Heavenly Sword because it lacked both of those features, and I hope Ninja Theory will fix that.

I'll wait til closer to release before I decide on this one. Hopefully it will have a better story and not jump around everywhere.

Ugh. That's awfully presumptuous of Ninja Theory to say, given how well established the current Dante is and how much the new version sucks.

Capcom's internal talent can't all be working on RE6 and that crap looking Mega Man game can it?

Wouldn't surprise me if RE6 is outsourced and loses its identity too.

This westernisation by Japanese publishers is beyond a joke. When are western gamers supposed to have stopped buying Japanese style, Japanese developed games? Japanese gamers certainly don't want this.

Lost Planet 2 deserved to fail because it was a badly made Japanese game, the original only sold well because at the time there weren't many games that pushed the hardware, mechanically it just as messy as LP2.

New Dante does look like a Emo crybaby but I have faith in Ninja Theory. Hopefully Ninja Theory does do something with Dante after the public backlash that is starting.

Trailer didn't show any gameplay now did it? I just watched it on my iphone (vids are blocked at office) and the trailer just looked like a cut scene to me.

So this is what they mean when they are going for a more "Westernized" approach for the next DMC game? If that is so, then all I can say is that I don't like it...judging from the character design for the new Dante, though i'm sure the gameplay will be the same DMC style gameplay that we all come to know and love.

Ridiculously horrible.. I thought just the pictures.. Then I watched the trailer.. Jabba H Christ it looks bad.
