Question Which firmware update you want most for Christmas?

I know, I know, you can't install firmware on Christmas. But I'm sure you would like to have certain ones for your player in time for Christmas, right?

For my Sony s300, I would like upsampling though hi-def component cable (not likely), and some more load time improvements via BD-J. Let's see if they can get POTC 1 to load in under 90 seconds flat.

In general, I want a firmware update that excites me as much as going from 2.0 to 2.60 and gives me that sense of satisfaction. Something that makes it feel like a new player again. 3.20 & 3.30 are a bit blase' in comparison.

PS3 better have this ability soon. If it's trurly an entertainment unit and kick butt BluRay Player, it has to have this ability to at least pass DTS Master Audio via HDMI.

The 6.1 and 7.1 movies are starting to come out alot more and I want to hear every spec of it

PS3 will never bitstream DTS-MA, it doesnt have the right chip set. You may get lucky and someday it will internally decode DTS-MA but I wouldn't hold your breath.

For me, I just want a firmware update that enables me to not have to do another one for at least a couple months!!!

Yes, the DTS-MA, but also I want to make FREAKIN' FOLDERS in the XMB on my PS3. I want to organize the files my own way.

I'd be happy with the DTS-HD-MA over PCM... I've also read that over bitstream will never happen. That's ok, as long as it could over pcm.

You do understand that load times for standalones top off at some point, right? The rotational speed of the disc, the processing power of the unit, and the efficiency of the BD-J coding makes just so much possible.

I don't know if firmware is in a "compiled" format. Which is machine code (Assembly) to run as fast as possible. It might be a higher level language which can slow general performance down. A compiled final firmware would be sweet if it isn't already in place.

Otherwise, we have to wait for the newer stand alone players.

DTS-MA and PiP decoding for the PS3. That will make the PS3 spec 1.1 compliant - right?

Rup.

I would love an option to speed up load times.

Perhaps an option where the user can opt to always go direct to movie rather than pre-load the BD-J. If at any point you choose to use the menu then you'd wait for it to load. Not sure if that can be done, but would be a good option.

Yes, please share how to do this. The sort function is just not enough for me. I want to be able to put PS3 demos in one folder, PS3 downloaded games in another. With the sort feature it just puts all the PS3 stuff in one folder, so if there is another way to make folders and sort stuff yourself I would really like to know how. Thanx.

Exactly. I don't like having ALL PS3 games in one folder... that only filters out the 1 or 2 PS1 games I have and the rest are still jumbled together.
PLEASE cathexist, show us the way to folder creation.
