Default What title(s) made you upgrade to Blu-ray?

Watchmen - especially after seeing the preview of the maximum movie mode.

And if this question has been posed before, at least give this thread a clean death. A soldier's death.

Seeing a demo of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End in a store convinced me.

On december 2008 I watched "Pirates of the Caribbean 3" on Blu-Ray, and on January 2009 I bought my first Blu-Ray movie, now I have almost 200 titles

The Stendhal Syndrome and The Bird With the Crystal Plumage. I wish they would get around to releasing more of the Dario Argento catalogue though, its been kinda slow for a year now.

The thought of Iron Man in high definition was too tantalizing to resist.

The first HD movie I saw was actually King Kong for hd-dvd. After that, I was sold, and not long after I purchased a PS3.

No title, really. I just wanted to upgrade. I do remember trying to choose between HD DVD and Blu-ray at the beginning. Good thing I made the right choice.

Same here. I have both though and still kept my HD collection. I even accidentally purchased We Were Soldiers last month and completely forgot I owned it on HDDVD. It was under $10 so I just let it slide.

Nothing really stuck out at first glance, but since I was getting a PS3, I figured I might as well upgrade "The Matrix" trilogy, "The Rock," "Transformers," "POTC," and many others that came out at that time...

I was in the market for an upconverting player so I ended up with an HD DVD player (since the Sony Blu-ray player I wanted wasn't coming out right away). But once the Sony player hit the market, I jumped on board. And one of the reasons was that I saw Bad Boys II in the Sony promo and thought, "I bet that'll look and sound amazing." And to this day, I still don't know if it will/does because Sony STILL hasn't released it. But I think two early titles that made me want to see what Blu-ray was like were Pearl Harbor and Enemy of the State if I remember correctly.

It was the thought of getting all the James Bond movies again (that idea got nixed pretty quick as I went blu in March 2009) and seeing Australia in hi-def for me.

No title made me. I just felt it was time. I wanted to make sure it wasn't going to die out as quickly as hddvd first.

I had a strange path to Blu-Ray. I bought a PS/3 for the future promise of a new Final Fantasy title and ended up buying cars the Blu-ray to tie me over for a while well as you may have guessed once I compared cars on blu to cars on DVD the game as they would say was Over. Been Blu ever since

Thanks,
T

Once I heard Kingdom of Heaven: DC was available on blu, I said, "that's it, I'm upgrading!" even though the actual first movies I bought were Pirates of the Caribbean & Braveheart.

I am actually a relative newbie who has only been buying for less than two months. It was the triple threat of Alien, Star Wars and Back To The Future (although I really only want part 1) that officially sold me... plus this fall is loaded with titles I've wanted to upgrade from DVD--- Grindhouse uncut, Sound Of Music, Rocky Horror, Psycho, etc... I generally prefer buying all time faves instead of being the sporatic type who'll buy new releases unseen, I made too many mistakes in the early days of buying DVD's to know better.

I purchased an HD DVD player before Blu-ray hit the market, and it wasn't long before I became addicted to HD movies. I eventually got a PS3, and one of the main reasons was to be able to watch HD movies that weren't available on HD DVD. The format war was a real pain - both sides had some good exclusives.

The first HD movie I watched on disc was Kiss Kiss Bang Bang on HD DVD. It may not look that great now, but it was a big enough leap over DVD to impress me back in 2006.

My first Blu-ray was The Descent, followed shortly by Crank.
