Talking Samsung Blu-ray player down to $569.99 (NEW) at Amazon

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-BD-P10...&s=electronics

Damn that's quite a drop. Prices have dropped from $100 and up at most retailers, but Amazon is definitely taking the cake here.
$569 for a new Samsung Blu-ray player.
There must be a 2ng gen player being announced at CES from Samsung.

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...ayer_Price/410

Quote:
As any MSRP discount means an even lower wholesale cost for retailers, a quick perusal of online sites saw even more competitive prices for the BD-P1000. Both BestBuy.com and CircuitCity.com are now selling the player for $799, while Amazon dropped its price a whopping $330, to a comparitively affordable list of $569.

That now makes the BD-P1000, with discount, the cheapest Blu-ray stand-alone player on the market, edged out only by Sony's 20GB PlayStation 3 game console, which includes a Blu-ray drive and currently lists for $500.

Vitally important for the next-gen format wars, Samsung's move also helps to close the price gap between Blu-ray and HD DVD -- at least with such steep online discounts -- nearing the $500 list price for Toshiba's cheapest HD DVD player option, the HD-A1.

Such aggressive pricing can only help the high-defintion formats, as one of the primary deterrents in attracting consumers to a new technology is price. So we hope to see more discounts on hardware throughout 2007. Stay tuned.

I have a feeling that CES2007 will be all about the 2nd gen for Blu-ray.

Yep, I think we'll be seeing a few less expensive 2nd gen machines in a few days. Uh-oh.

HD DVD price advantage is now disadvantage!

LOL, their last chance to win people is wasted. Sorry Toshiba! Samsung owns you now!

Man! $569... sometimes living in the UK really does leave me dumbfounded. Great news though ... having bought a Panasonic BD10, I love hearing good news

Well 3 of them = 1 exactly the same in Aus AU$1599 (even with the conversion rate it comes to AU$720, still under half the price). That Region B sticker must cost alot. (Maybe it's made out of gold)

And Welcome.
