Default Does Futureshop.ca know something we don't?

Or does HD DVD have releases announced for January and they just won't be carrying them..

There have been announcements for HD in January and beyond. Futureshop probably just haven't updated their site yet.

But if they stopped carrying HD, that would be fine by me.

yeah, but they've updated the blu-ray one and more than a few titles have been announced for hd dvd in jan. so this is weird. def. weirder than that rumor from a while back, when they didn't have any hd dvd players on their website, cause they were getting ready for the a3. i really can't think of a valid reason they wouldn't have anything for hd dvd. thoughts from anybody else?

I like how the list of HD-DVD's coming all have a Blu background

there aren't too many BD's available for January yet, so I assume they just haven't updated the HD-DVD section yet...

I wouldn't read too much into it - they are quite slow at updating their site. I used to check their wii games from time to time and it would take them sometimes months to update their release dates on games they had available for preorder with generic placeholder dates.

EDIT - Did anyone else notice that for the longest time when you clicked on the Blu Ray section, they had a link to Blades of Glory on DVD right smack dab in the middle of the page. That is just another example of how slow they are to update - it must have been there for at least a month.

huh? there are probably 25 titles already announced for blu-ray in january. blu-ray has been updated on futureshop.ca, so why hasn't hd dvd? i'd buy that argument that it hasn't been updated, but blu-ray has been, so what gives with hd dvd.

it's HD media...who the blank knows?....

they are probably more concerned with updating DVD right now...

I just refuse to read into this anymore than I need to because this is something where people tend to jump the gun and assume....but they forget that sites like this aren't overly concerned with HD media...

they might have a Blu-ray bias...but that's another argument...

I hope they discontinue HD-DVD...but I refuse to jump the gun since it is only December 1st (I think)...and it makes me wonder when they updated the January release dates for Blu-ray....

if they updated the January release dates say....within the past week, then I am definitely not jumping the gun...these are just movies verified...

I don't know that they're planning to drop it, but I DO know all four of my local Future Shops have banished the HD DVD players away from the endcaps and sit-down rooms, while one of them has FOUR blu sit-downs and three endcaps... not to mention way more BDs than HD DVDs.

Methinks Futureshop doesn't know much about anything.

i work at a future shop in Toronto as a sales rep in the Home Theater dept in one of the 3 stores that just opened, we do have more blu ray players demo'd then HDDVD players ratio is 3-1 or somthing like that in favor of bluray

but we had the toshiba rep in the other day and we do still carry some hd dvd players a3 and a30 not the a35 or xa2 in our store anyway

and as a indication this weekend we sold about atleast 20 bd300 and 500s, while selling maybe 5 hd dvd players

I haven't bought any movies at Future Shop as they price themselves right out of the picture.I usually get mine at Willow Video where Night at the Museum is selling for $18.99 and at Future Shop its $45. So many of their titles are priced like that.

I was at the new death star location at Yonge & Dundas Friday evening. I picked up 2 PS3 games and a Blu-Ray disc. Cool store but someone has GOT to tweak that 100" Panasonic plasma to match the surrounding panels!
