I ordered this yesterday (using up some amazon gift certificates burning a hole in my pocket), and of course they drop the price today another 3 bucks, down to 14.99. And the thing is I knew it was going to drop quickly in price. What was I thinking?

2001 - Oil War Apocalypse/WWIII. Breakdown of society.
2002 - Winter: Captain Walker's 747 flight and following crash (no fuel). Slake is born.
2003- Nuclear holocaust. Savannah Nix is born.
2004 - Nuclear winter. Climate changes. Desertification.
2005 - Aunty starts Bartertown as simple, rudimentary outpost. Captain Walker and most of the adults leave "Planet Erf" because they don't and can't know cities went eventually nuked (see Thunderdome, specifically the Tell scene, the year is reported on the wall).
2007 - MAD MAX 2. Feral Kid is 7/8 years old so it makes sense. Max is 30. Without Lord Humungus and the Dogs of War, Aunty is finally free to expand Bartertown the way she wants.
2012 - Gyro Captain/Jedediah has Jedediah Junior. Lusty Girl dies. He leaves the Great Northern Tribe with son.
2021 - MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME. Max is 44.
where's this from? I've always heard that Gyro and Jedediah were separate characters, just played by the same actor. Max and Jedediah dont seem to recognise each other.
Never heard of Aunty and Humongous being connected before either

That's a good question ...

Conceived by me. Aunty and Humungus never met, indeed. It's about supremacy over the Wasteland.

1- The movie has a ridiculous budget. It's a C-grade production, not even "B".
2- Cheapest film stock used.
3- DVD version bumped the colours in the wrong way, much likely it happened to 'The Road Warrior' DVD.

I think they must have done a fantastic work with the BD. And the color timing is finally right.

there's definate notable image problems on MM2, always on shots attached to a transition, a tell tale sign of budget issues. Stands to reason MM1 would have similar problems.

I'm taking it that this is just your opinion...I've still yet to see one professional review for this, or a single HD screenshot for that matter.

They dropped it to match Best Buy's sale price.

That's normal for films of decades past. They used to do the transitions optically. Nothing (or at least little) to do with budget. You will see that on many/most older films that have transitions like that. (Some may have been digitally cleaned up in recent years, but usually they're just left as is.)

Probably because they weren't deemed significant enough to bother with . To qoute reviewer Colin Jacobson's remarks (DVD Movie Guide Review):

Print flaws appeared quite minor for an older film. I saw a handful of specks and marks, but nothing major occurred.

There didn't seem to be very many of these when I watched it. They didn't come across to me as distracting at all. If they start removing more and more of this kind of stuff won't people start complaining about too much "manipulation"?

Probably cause WARNER has nothing to do with MAD MAX,
This a mgm release, that Fox is distributing for MGM.

your thinking of Road Warrior, which along with Beyond Thunder dome are the only two Mad Max movies released by Warner

Well, you've seen it, so you'd certainly know better than I would. The DVD itself had minimal video issues, I can't imagine the Blu would be worse. And I agree, sometimes there's a price to be paid for digital manipulation, it just depends on how delicately it's handled if/when it's performed.

The Blu-ray.com review is up and it seems to match pretty well with my experiences watching this last week...
