Canada Danman's HT

I thought I would post my picture (maybe more coming up) of my simple HT and see where I can improve it.

First off some stuff about my set up:

RTi8 Fronts
CSi3 Center
PSW 10
RTi4 Rears
Pioneer VSX-820

The room is odd shaped so I my rears are not directly lined up, I will try to get a picture of the rear set up in a bit.

Don't mind the quality, take from my phone's camera and I was slightly off angle.

I was thinking of moving the fronts to the side walls and see if my subwoofer will either fit on the left or right between the fronts and my TV.

For starters danman, your HT is off to a good start, as Polk makes very good speakers. IMO, I would do exactly what you are suggesting. I would move the speakers as far wide as you can get them and take the sub out of the corner. Perhaps in might sound better between the TV stand and the far right wall, on the inside and next to the right front (at least 1 foot from the back wall will help as well.) This may reduce any "boominess" you might sens from the sub (if you are hearing any.) More pics of the rest of the room would really help as well.

I agree with John on a nice start to your Home Theater . Remember the sub can be anywhere in the room , Best to try it in different locations & adding a Riser will help how it sounds as well .

Thanks but sadly my room is really odd shaped that is the only place it will fit. There are sliding doors to the right, it opens to the left and really small. The only place I can see where it can fit is to the left side where I just move my front a bit and squeeze the sub in there.

Also should I be angling my speakers or keep my speakers front facing?

I will get my rears up later tonight.

Whether you have your speakers facing forward or toed in is really up to you & how they sound. I prefer mine toed in facing the listening position .

Do post more pics when you can

That's a good start on your HT, Dan.

My advice on the L&R speakers is to listen to them in the position they are in now with a good piece of music. Then move the speakers out farther as you suggested, without angling them see how they sound (having them near the sidewalls might introduce reflections). Then try angling them in about 15-20 degrees and see how they sound. Then choose what sounds best to you.

Consider spending an afternoon or evening doing some wire management with a good brew. You'll enjoy the HT more in the long run.

I agree with what the others are saying. You are off to a very good start and a few tweaks here and there will make things even better. When I had a TV in my setup moving the front speakers further away from the center really helped improve the sound. My room is also oddly shaped but you have to make do with what you got
