Hi everyone
I know this may not be the forum specifically for these questions, but I know there's a lot of helpful and knowing people in here so I'm gonna give it a shot! Please move my thread if its not placed correctly - maybe offtopic? I recently bought a samsung m87 together with a PS3 - primarily for blu-ray so I have chosen sides. People were friendly to help me get started in here with the blu-ray thing so I hope you will help a bit with the TV too! I'm very pleased with my purchase except for one minor problem that's big to me - clouding! The TV has what I believe to be clouding around the sides. The spots seem to change when I wipe the screen with a dry cloth because I heard that could help. Actually A couple of days ago I thought I was completely over it. When I went to bed, there was nothing to spot. Backlight 10, no power saving and colour warm 2 (which seems to bring it out). The next day nothing again. Then I played xbox for 10-20 minutes and there was the clouding again! Is this normal clouding behavior or is it something else? Can I do anything or should I try to get a refund/a new set. I know maybe it doesn't matter that much but it is visible when the background is black and I'm very neurotic about this stuff. Its almost like a disorder. I can't stop looking for it... so it bothers me a lot! Hope you will help ![]() thanks! |

It seems that the clouding or whatever it is also comes after watching a bit of standard analogue TV.
Do you guys think the temperature can also affect the clouding? That seems to be whats happening to me unless it isn't clouding. I'm completely sure that if I leave the TV for a good while then diminishes to where you have to look EXTREMELY close to even notice it. When I play my xbox its quickly back again and when I watch TV it seems to come back slowly. Is there reason to think that the xbox would heat up the tele faster than watching regular TV? that would explain a lot |

Sounds like you have a lemon. I would call customer support, and have them look at it, and hopefully replace. Or better yet take it back, and pick up an sxrd. I never liked the samsungs dlps

I could turn the backlight down but I like gaming with very high backlight. I think it makes the picture a lot more vibrant and strong! Don't u feel the same waY? Actually I often game with dynamic settings, 10 backlight and no power saving ![]() |

dynamic like DnIe? always adds artifacting in most cases. I mostly game late at night & have most of the settings tv low (britness & contrast) & game mode on, it is bright just enough that I get some shadow detail so no one can hide in those dark spots ![]() You can get a new sony 60a3000 for $2199, 55" for $1999 or a 50" for $1799 + tax & free delivery from sony.com http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...categoryId=565 |

Thanks! Unfortunately 40 or 42" are what I can fit in my room!
I'll look into getting a replacement. But can we conclude that its clouding that I have on my tv? I mean is it normal that it gets worse as the TV is used? |

Temperature can definitely affect LCD inconsistencies.
I have a 42" 1080p Westinghouse LCD and when I first turn it on, I have backlight bleed (where the edges are brighter than the rest of the screen) in the corners for about 20 minutes while the set warms up. After that, it looks perfect. Doesn't bother me at all. It's my understanding (and my experience) that VERY few LCD's are PERFECT - with the entire screen being the same level of black everywhere, all the time. I'm not sure I'd call an LCD a Lemon just because it's not perfect, especially if the person calling it that hasn't seen the TV. What would drive one person nuts, another person wouldn't even notice. It's all up to you. If you're not satisfied with the TV, try to get a replacement. |
