Japan Hot Shots Golf (5) Out Of Bounds – s3D and PlayStation Move Support Coming

Does anyone know when this game will be released in North America?
I know it's already out in Japan but I'm waiting for the English version.

Hot Shots Golf Fore (4) is my all time favorite for the PS2 and I can only imagine how great 5 will be on the PS3.

Thanks,
Zak

The only clue I've found is that there's meant to be a demo on the Euro store this month.

Hot Shots Golf 5 release date is TBA 2008, but expect it during the first half of the year since it was already released in Japan.

I'm surprised it wasn't released this month or next. I've been looking forward to it for a while and it's been out in Japan long enough that I think they could have localized it by now.

Has anyone played both and can compare the Hot Shots franchise to Tiger Woods PGA tour?

I love my golf games and wouldn't mind being able to tell EA Sports to bugger off.

It's more of a comical relief, arcade like golf game versus a sim game like TW. With that being sad this game is more fun to me, and I love TW.

I have played both TW 07 and HSG 4.
The realistic graphics and feel of Tiger Woods are good but it does not hold my attention span for very long.
I have put maybe 6 hours into Tiger Woods 07 and probably 90+ hours into Hot Shots 4.

Even with the new PS3 I still spend a lot of time on my PS2 playing this game.

I've had the Japanese version for a while now. Love the whole series and this one is no exception. Kind of disappointed that there weren't more characters though. I was going to wait for the US release but I like the Japanese voice acting better

I noticed on the promotional video that they seem to have some English in the Japanese version?
I remember seeing words like Birdie and Par in both English and Japanese.

Is this game still playable by a person who can't read or speak Japanese?

Thanks,
Zak

Hi Zak,
With actual game play, not knowing Japanese won't make a difference. You can definitely still enjoy the game, especially if you're already familiar with the Hot Shots Golf style of play - everything remains the same. Of course, you might have a little trouble in the beginning navigating the menus because they're all in Japanese and you won't be able to understand little tips here and there as well as character stats.

I'm Japanese so those things make no difference to me, but if you're wanting to fully enjoy the game by reading/understanding everything the game has, you might want to wait for the US release. Also, if you do get the Japanese version, you probably won't be able to play online with US players, unless they merge servers like they did in Resistance. So if those things don't bother you and you just want to play some fun golf and can't wait, I'd go ahead and pick up the Japanese version. I bought mine on eBay brand new for only $47 shipped, which I was surprised at since games are usually $60+.

Toshi

Thanks for the reply Toshi!

I think I will wait for the US release but I can hardly wait after seeing the beautiful promo video.
Do you know if any playstation stores have a downloadable demo?
I found the video in Japanese store.

Thanks,
Zak

I'm sure you'll love it since you already loved part four of the series. Beautiful visuals and great sound I know that my PS3 that's upstairs has the demo (my brother downloaded it), so it should be available on the Japanese PSN store.

The Japanese demo was only available for a limited period of time.

Can't wait. I love golf, but TW has run its course.

I really don't need a golf game centered around a golfer. Give me fun.

This game has been delayed a couple times. I've been watching this because I too, want it. I've seen a few release dates and then they got pushed back. This TBA 2008 is kind of annoying. It's amazing how they keep delaying it considering how long it's been released in Japan. Also, ign.com doesn't have squat for information either.

As far as I can tell no release date has been announced for it to be delayed from.

Mario Gold is indeed pretty awesome. But I'm hoping this is going to be cool too. It seems pretty popular in Japan. I'm looking forward to this one.
