Predator stealth

What causes the predators stealth to malfunction? I was watching both films today on AMCs fear fest and it didn't work in the meat locker.

In Predator #1 wasn't it from being submerged under water? And in Predator #2 because it was a crappy movie.

It's been a while since I've seen predator 2. But yeah, in Predator water caused it to short out. In 2 didn't the soldiers use infra-red scanners or something to track him? Like I said, it's been a while since I've seen it.

They were tracking the predator to that location and were pumping something into the room. Which is why that had the chemical suits on. It's been awhile since I've seen it also, but they were setting a trap for him that didn't work because as already state the movie sucked.

I wouldn't say that it was an incredibly terrible movie, {it wasn't incredibly good either} but if it's on TBS, I'll watch it if there's nothing else on.

But yeah, they were pumping chemicals into the room in order to have the stealth malfunction.

I'd say the first one was the most outlandish/idiotic/bad writing reason... a society that has stealth technology that doesn't work when it gets wet? IN A RAINFOREST?

I wouldn't even say Predator 2 sucks. But yes, Predators was awful.

in the second one an explosion causes the fire sprinklers to come on, so his camo is disabled then..before the explosion they were trying to use ultraviolet dust that would stick to his skin

I thought that in the first Predator, Dutch threw his spear that had the gunpowder tip as the Predator was walking over the log over the fire Dutch had set. The spear hit right in front of the Predator causing damage to the stealth system. In the second one, Im pretty sure a direct hit from Danny Glover's machine gun in the warehouse hit the Predator right in the stealth system causing it to malfunction.

his camo is disabled before this scene, its disabled when he jumps down the waterfall to chase Dutch. he gets outta the water and you can clearly see the camo begin to glitch, he just turns it off and then looks for dutch, who he obviously cant see because of the mud on him..also there are several predators video games that have camo disabled when its raining or the predator is wet...its pretty clear in both movies that water is the reason

actually, when Dutch is up in the tree watching the fire waiting for the Predator to come, the Predator crawls down the tree behind him and is clearly in stealth mode, as Dutch watches him crawl right by him. Dutch then grabs a vine and swings to the other tree. Then he throws the spear at him, which explodes right in front of the predator, he goes to try and turn on his stealth, but it malfunctions and he starts to randomly shoot into the trees with his blaster.

the scene you are talking about happens after what i am talking about... i dont dispute that the grenade explosion does disable the camo in the scene you are talking about, but when dutch is covered in mud for the first time, the predator comes out of the river and his camo is cleary malfunctioning because he is wet

I actually like Predator 2, sure the dialogue kinda sucked but it was a good sequel and I liked the urban jungle setting. Just wish it wasn't in the "future" at that time when it came out.

I can't believe anyone would think Predator 2 is better than Predators... both are good but Predator 2 is far more face palm worthy.
