Do they? I thought the box set was cheaper or roughly the same price, with a lot more stuff which would cost more to make. I just checked and Amazon's list price is $5 cheaper than all 5 movies and actual selling price is equal. I'm pretty sure they make more money on the individuals.

I completely disagree and feel like "300" the boxset sets and stand alone titles are going to sell significantly more on Blu-Ray.

Not the biggest fan of the Harry Potter movies, but I did order OOTP to do my part!

I believe he needed to punctuate that sentence to mean that *like 300* (sold better in Blu), the box set and the individual title will sell better in Blu.

Don't agree with the premise of this thread. I don't think Warners is looking at sales numbers. They know those numbers just don't matter right now. Do you think a billion-dollar company is really going to be swayed by Harry Potter selling 7,000 more units on blu than red? They'll make their determination based on the better deal from Sony or Toshiba. They know they're the catch, the grand prize, and they're just waiting for S or T to make them an offer they can't refuse.

Someone mentioned this elsewhere. But what they *charge* doesn't necessarily reflect what it *costs* to manufacture one vs. the other--and, therefore, how much they make selling one (the box) vs. the other (the individual titles).

I'm not sure you can say it's a bigger highdef movie than 300.

300 was BIG. In fact it was as big of a title as Transformers because it was geared more towards the highdef audience.

Harry Potter no matter how you cut it is geared towards children. How well does children titles sale.....ask Ratatouille and Shrek.

I'm not saying Harry Potter won't be big because it's probably going to end up being their number 2 highdef title (for Warner) and it will probably determine what Warner will do early next year.....but bigger than 300, no way.

I hope Blu-ray will outsell HD-DVD at least 2:1

Why do you believe it'll be 7000?

300 has a lead of roughly 150,000 on Blu-Ray. That's hardly insignificant.

Ha! Movie companies are in business to make money, not movies. Look how the industry is currently peeing its collective pants over poor DVD sales.

I like the first the best, b/c you can't really argue with Chris Columbus, a huge budget, and an original John Williams score.

#1, at least, should be a Blu-Ray masterpiece given the visuals, director, and amazing score/sound. Anyone apprehensive should at least check it out. Even if you don't think you'll like it, at least buy it for the weekly numbers. I will be surprised if it's anything less than 5 star audio/video, but after all.....it is Warner. The only movie I am worried about as far as sales, is #5. It is one of the biggest releases of the year and I'm sure they are vesting a lot of interest in its numbers.

I got the 5 disc set. Somebody should go over to a big time PS3 forum and tell them to "rock the vote" (or whatever you want to call it) and turn out next Tuesday and pick up these movies so we can deliver a MASSIVE, swift kick in the nuts to M$ and To$h. Those guys hate M$ as much as anyone, they'll deliver if unified.
