You don't have to be good at German to order it.

Place the disc in your cart and then do exactly what you do when you order from Amazon.UK -- the layout and process are identical (have the UK site open in one window and the German in another if you are unsure). You could also log in with your UK info (password, etc).

Is the German release any good?

Are there many extras and is it definitely 1080p/24 Master Audio etc?

Can't find info on it. Like the cover, though!

Don't waste your time and money shopping around Europe for stuff like this. Go multiregion and get the locked USA disc which is darn excellent and goes very nicely with TDR.

Some of the worst DVD and Blu-ray release you could imagine come from Germany and many have multiple distributors over a very short lifetime.

I buy stuff from all over the world (like many here) but that's because it's either the best or the only thing available.

Go mulitregion.

No probs

My first 1 or 2 Blu-rays I bought included those and I didn't have a machine that could play 'em! I love those films so just had to have them and then bought a multi-region player. Backward I know but it's not like they'd stop working while I waited

Best bet now prices are so low is to just import a Region A player and of course that'll also do Region 1.

I have a Region A and a multi-region but most of the multi-region are either crazy prices or lower end budget meaning you may struggle for firmware updates.

Lots of places to shop (ask on the hardware forum here) or try movietyme.com or http://www.dvdworldusa.com (they both sell players) or eBay.com Loads of Sellers there's that'll be VERY helpful with importing and you'll find all the well known brands for £100-£130. Yes, you'll usually have to pay import taxes etc but you'll save get that back with often cheaper movies but the main thing -better selection.

HOATC reviews:

US: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/House...ay/339/#Review

Germany: http://www.dvd-forum.at/29143/bluray_review_detail.htm

TDR:

USA: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-D...ray/18/#Review

Germany: http://www.dvd-forum.at/28814/bluray_review_detail.htm

Worth holding on to the UK DVDs because they have a few bits and pieces that the US releases don't have. That Germany Blu-ray of TDR looks very nice and maybe it's the best option. Worth reading up on it. You can translate the page via http://uk.babelfish.yahoo.com/?fr=avbbf-uk Just paste the URL in there. And mind and search ask over @ https://forum.blu-ray.com/germany/

Let's shop

That Blu-ray player (Curtis -I think those were Currys/DSG and Tesco) are pretty good but try and use it for only locked Region A as it's not the best machine in the world (it's pretty old although there are later models but they may struggle with compelx discs).

I've had no playback problems in any of my machines but I don't use BDLive and all that crap. If there's a slot for a USB drive in the rear (BDLive) then pop a USB drive in there because that solves many playback issues (some machines (even brand new ones from Sony) look for the drive and won't boot the full disc menu if they don't find it).

Also worth remembering not all Region A discs are "locked" so they'll play fine in the UK. I have around 30 locked discs (all Criterion so far are locked I believe) but even if I had just 2 or 3 I'd be multiregion because I don't like being told what I can watch!

Worth checking what's locked or not: http://bluray.liesinc.net/index.php?region=a

I've seen the German release available on Amazon and despite the 18 rating it's missing about two minutes. Great pq, but no substitute.

Would it be worth buying just to have this in collection???with Christmas round corner I'm a bit hesitant to buying a new player just for one movie at the moment!

If you can live with the cuts, the picture quality is really good. Also it has the German title on the case (and the film print itself), so it may look odd on the shelf. I think there's an Austrian version which is uncut (I've not seen it myself so can't confirm), it may be better tracking that one down.

You pointed out that's it's only missing about 2 minutes, what parts have been cut then??just thinking as 2 minutes less ain't that much of a problem!
