Default Sterotypes of Blu-ray that irk you

1. There is not porn on blu-ray, the porn industry is behind HD DVD

2. I heard TL51 is coming soon, its already done, and then HD DVD will have the advantage as storage goes.

3. VC-1 is used on the majority of blu-rays, so MS will win no matter what.

1. There is porn on blu-ray...just not many titles. Don't really care anyway, the industry doesn't have as much pull on physical media as it did before (hahaha...I said pull)

2. The TL51 has been approved, but it is still unknown if they will work in existing players (I've heard arguments both ways). Also, 1GB is not much of a space advantage. We also do not know the cost of the TL51 production.

3. Here's one that I don't know too much about, but I know that many blu-rays do not use a VC-1 encode. I'm not going to put numbers out there and put myself in a position I can't back up.

So yeah, it "irks" me when people argue on those points

1) The PS3 blu-ray optical drive is only for watching movies. Sony is forcing you to buy something that is completely unnecessary for video games

1. The porn industry will jump on BR once HD DVD is dead.
2. Storage space is only half the issue. They are moving from a 3 gallon jug to a 5 gallon jug, but they are still keeping the garden hose. BR has a firehose. Bandwidth is still 33% higher for BR and that has more impact than capacity.
3. VC-1 is used on about 1/4 of BR. http://blu-raystats.com/ scroll all the way down.

"Gamers don't buy movies. Therefore, the PS3 won't help Blu-Ray sales."...that one is beyond stupid.

yeah, i really hate that one that thinks sony is the biggest blu-ray supporter. Panasonic did more in developing it, and Disney is def. tops in terms of PQ and AQ.

The other one i hate is, these movies can't look much better after all they are all on film.

I saw blu-ray at a store and it doesn't look any better or not that much better.

If anybody says that, you can tell them this.

The PS3 game disc itself is Blu-ray format. So they're not forcing anyone anything.

PS1 - CD-R
PS2 - DVD
PS3 - Blu-ray

Playstation console move up a notch higher within every gen.

If PS3 go with DVD or CD-R, then the games will be the same graphics, with same storage space. Why bother calling it "Next-Gen"?

Unlike 360 and x-box, wii and gamecube. Where they just recycle/reduce/re-use, and call it "Next-gen".

im sick of the 'stalemate' articles....every site with a tech section now says sony admits stalemate and cites no numbers/statistics....all from an out of context interview
