Default Bad Boys - Blu-ray Essentials 11/16 (Question)

Is this simply a repackage of the disc released in June, or is there a difference spec wise? Thanks.

If memory serves, the first release had a slipcover... I remember specifically some people commenting on the difficulty of actually figuring out it was a blu-ray b/c the slipcover did not have the Blu banner across its top...

Seems like a repackaging, which is odd given that this was released just 5 1/2 months ago. Another marketing scheme.

Too much of that crap going on. There's 2+ releases of dozens of films now

I wish they'd put the effort into releasing more films instead

I was trying to say that it will have a different slipcover. With the essentials series logo on it.

I seriously doubt them changing the slipcover on a film caused them to stop working on other ones.

Gotcha

My intention wasn't to imply that it's taking away from their progress on other releases, but I would rather see more "new" output from the company. Just seems like it's one more thing that the company is doing, rather than release some of the films we're all waiting for.

True... And the issue I have with things like these is that it confuses the uninformed customers. If they love a film like Bad Boys and see's there's some different packaging, they might pick it up thinking "oh this is a version I don't have!" Only to get it home and find out it's simply a repackage...

And Ghostbusters 2

Looks like we'll be waiting years and they'll release BB2 when Michael Bay decides to do BB3, same with Ghostbusters 3.

Exactly. Back before I found my passion for film and I was a clueless, casual DVD buyer, I probably made all sorts of mistakes buying the wrong editions or the older version with the terrible transfer, etc. I saw a guy the other day in Best Buy about to drop $25 on the original Full Metal Jacket release, so I stopped him and handed him the right one. When I told him about the transfer, he said he wasn't even aware that certain titles have a better transfer than others. I remember being that guy

God I hope that's not the case.

From the sounds of the Review, it looks like they seriously goofed with the Audio on this (3.5 of 5 stars), which makes you wonder Why or How that could happen (the movie's only 15 years old). Hell, the guy only gives the PQ 3.5 of 5 also! Is the transfer that bad, as Well as the AQ?

As far as I know Sony has 3 titles yet to release the sequels on blu-ray.

Ghostbusters II
Bad Boys II
Men In Black II

Revisiting... has anyone now confirmed that the June and most recent release are the same spec and content wise?

If so, $10.99 for the new release may be worth a purchase...

Comparing the features listed on the back covers, they're exactly the same (unless I missed something).

I just got this new Essentials Bad Boys release. The slip cover is different, but the actual shrinkwrapped Bluray is exactly the same as the previous version.
