Default I'm not enjoying the amaray/SB double dip

Back last year when Futureshop did the 12 weeks of Xmas Disney line up it was understandable. All the titles bar one or two were catalog titles and it was a great way to get collectors buzzing. But to release Princess and the Frog months after its original 2010 release date is a bit cheeky. As a UK resident I buy the Disney movies and buy the ironpack/steelbook if I can but I don't want to double dip every Disney movie on blu ray.

Hopefully Fantasia won't get one as I'm buying that today.

Is there any reason PaTF wasn't released on Ironpack on its debut?

I would imagine that they had other ironpacks being produced at the time of release so releasing it one on top of the other would have slowed production.

Retailers certainly demand a certain number of units

You sound like you are surprised that they re-released these movies in IronPacks?

After last year, I deliberately held off buying these movies (except for TS 1 and 2 which were $9.99) knowing full-well that IronPacks were coming.

If I were you I would hold off on FANTASIA as well. There are a bunch of us trying to drum up interest in a Spring IronPack 12-weeks of Disney on the Future Shop forum.

Unless you're happy to double-dip, I would wait. On the other hand, you could always sell your amaray later and recover some of the cost.

Retailers know that most people purchased PRINCESS AND THE FROG. If they don't re-release it in IronPack, then people won't be buying it again -- it's that simple!

The double-dip IS the message!

As far as the recent releases from Canada I was fortunate that I had bought none of them previously in Blu-ray. However the 5 Warner titles I am getting in 2 weeks will be double dips. But I don't mind, just glad they released them, and without blue banners.

At least they do not release Avatar in steels twice! THEN that would suck!!

And I am not totally not buying any movies right away, unless they go cheaper than say 15 bucks. It seems that anything could be released again in "collectible" packaging nowadays......

James Cameron has previously stated that AVATAR is a 'living movie' meaning that he has a license to revisit and edit/add scenes to his whim and re-release it as a new cut or edition.

Good for him. Bad for collectors.

You're kidding, right? AVATAR has been released on SB/IP twice -- and the 3D version isn't even out yet!

I've done double dipping with steelbook. With Prince of Persia FS ironpack and HMV doubleplay. But triple? Nope. Well, as of not yet and I hope not in the future anyways. How about quadruple? Anyone done this? =D

Does this count? I got Iron Man 2 target, Iron Man 2 Germany MM, Iron Man 1+2 Germany and Iron Man 2 HK. Sadly someone probably also got the Taiwan, Korea and Japanese version.
