New World.

Badlands is his most straight forward but it's just a glimpse of what was to come. Days of Heaven is his most problematic but also the most beautiful movie ever filmed. The Thin Red Line is considered his masterpiece and really was the culmination of all the themes and the shooting style he always wanted. However, the New World is a bit more tempered and a bit more direct while still being eloquent and poetic, which is why I selected it.

Default Days of Heaven

I picked Days of Heaven. It has stunningly beautiful cinematography, great direction, an accurate depiction of 20th century American labor, and excellent music from Ennio Morricone. I have it on Criterion DVD.

BTW, this poll must have been created before The Tree of Life came out?

Would have picked The Tree Of Life, but picked Days Of Heaven instead - they're roughly neck-and-neck for me.

After that comes The Thin Red Line, Badlands, The New World and To The Wonder. They're all great.
