Default How dumb can you get???

At a forum:

Where the heck in Planet Terror HDDVD??
I thought this movie was being releasedon hd-dvd and nobody has it! not walmart, best buy, amazon, newegg, nobody! the only thing they have is the dvd version. I remember all this talk about it being released in hd months ago. what happened? is it going to come or are we only getting the dvd version? there is no press on this and google has been useless.
I know the movie did badly in theaters this year but I loved every minute of it. I'd really like it in high def on my projector. has anyone seen it?

Re: where the heck in Planet Terror HDDVD??
Maybe it DVD exclusive?

Everytime i meet anyone who has HD DVD, wether they are a friend of a friend or I talk to them randomly in a Best Buy, they are completely clueless about anything related to the format war. In stores they are usually looking for titles on HD DVD that are Blu exclusive. I even met one of my friend's friends who believed HD DVD upconverts DVDs but Blu-ray doesnt and HD DVD can do 1080p but Blu-ray cant.

As I have said many times before, when I was considering buying one of the Hi-Def formats almost a year ago I wanted to get HD DVD. They had more titles that I would have enjoyed at the time. But I took 10 min out of my day to google both formats and learned HD DVD only had one studio Blu-ray didnt (Universal), but Blu-ray had an insane amount of studios over HD DVD.

At first I didn't understand why anyone would buy HD DVD with only one exclusive studio and give up Fox/MGM, Sony, Dinsey/Buena Vista/Mirimax, and Lionsgate in exchange for Universal.

After meeting a few HD DVD owners I have come to the conclusion that most people who buy into HD DVD are completely misinformed or not informed at all. Honestly, who would buy a format with one exclusive studio!?

Now they have Paramount, but it's still a no brainer IMO. I sort of understand someone buying HD DVD now that it has 2 exclusive studios, although I still dont think its a good idea. But anyone who bought into HD DVD when all they had was Universal is pure stupid or to lazy to google the formats before he leaped into one.

That part was prolly a joke. But the guy asking the question is the idiot I was speaking of. He bought into an undersupported format without taking the time to examine what he was buying and now he is wondering why his movie isnt on his format. "Buy first, ask questions later" is not a good strategy.

HD-DVD is not one studio
It is actually Universal, Dreamworks, Weinstein Company, Studio Canal, and Warner.

A small amount of research would have revealed to you that Weinstein had stopped supporting HD DVD (HDM in general) since June/July 2007, some people on here even expected Wiesntein to go Blu by the time Grindhouse was released.

Did you even read my post? I was speaking of almost half a year ago when I purchased my Blu-ray player. Back then it was just Universal. Paramount/Dreamworks were still neutral and Weinstein had stopped releasing HD DVDs in June/July. At that point in time buying into HD DVD was pure idiocy or laziness to research your purchase for a few minutes.

The better question is why is he asking us, in a Blu-ray forum, whether a movie will come out on hd dud? I don't know their schedules... look it up, that's what google is for.

Until he quit a few months ago, we had a guy who went with HD DVD. I didn't even know until I started to tell him the gospel according to blu-ray.

Artimus is an intelligent engineer, so his choice shocked me. Naturally I questioned his reasoning when he said blu-ray wasn't going to win. He apparently knew someone or something and mentioned Microsoft is backing it.

Considering this was months before the Paramount contract, I found this rather unusual as Microsoft doesn't usually take sides, they just frickken support any hardware as long as they are paid to do so. I was indeed unsettled and gave up hope of a "quick pin" by blu-ray.

But I will say this again. If the best technology, which is also the best selling does not win, most consumers will throw up their hands in disgust and probably buy nothing. At least the informed "consumer in waiting" will who was cheering on blu-ray.

My favorite thing to do when I go visit Cris is to act like I don't know anything about the format war if there is a family with kids in the hd dvd area.

Ill pick up a copy of Disney exclusive titles like ratatouille ,cars so on. I will start chatting with them and show the kids the Disney titles and say something like hey you really should buy ratatouille on hd dvd I saw it last night at friends house and it was amazing. After a few minutes trying to find it (lol) ill go find an employee (they usually come rolling they're eyes cause they know me there) and they tell the families sorry that title is exclusive to blu. I will then say how about cars? Of course same answer.

After the third title the employees leaves and I look at the kids and say something I am sorry kids I had no idea you guys couldn't see them in high definition.

I have done that 3 times. 1 time they left with a Sony 300 the other time they went to actually look at the players which I handed to my b/f a huge blu supporter the third time I failed but 1/3 isn't bad!!!.

Yes I am aware that I am a b--- but it for the blu cause.
